I have a hard enough time getting people to let me just check the fluids let alone start taking the car apart to do tests on it. Most people selling their car have multiple people interested in it if it's priced fairly, so they don't want to jump through hoops to sell the thing. I can't get anybody to let me have one inspected by an independent mechanic even.

Every used vehicle I bought, was first checked by my mechanic. If not allowed to do so, I walked away. This included a used Toyota and Nissan, which the dealer agreed to my conditions. It was with the Nissan, that I learned that dealer certified means nothing...nothing but words on a piece of paper... the dealer was not even embarrassed or apologetic when I stated, that only a blind mechanic would have missed what my mechanic found. The car needed brakes and a few other repairs. I kept my temper, told the dealer to discount the cost of repairs as estimated by my trusted mechanic, to repair a small dent & repaint, and then offered an even lower price to satisfy my annoyance. They agreed. Granted, this was 8 years ago...times have changed. But doing the right thing...never changes. Scotty's specific advice on this video, is something I would ask my mechanic to do. But overall, he is 100 percent right...have the vehicle checked before buying it, otherwise, walk away. No excuses, no exceptions.

I would just pull off oil cap while car is idling to see the amount of Blow-by. A good indication of piston ring seal.

Most people don't have a pressure gauge or know how to use one or what the pressure per cylinder should be

I would research service bulletins and common failures for example 2016 honda pilots are known to have bad piston rings. Ive done alot - ex honda tech

another trick is to remove the oil cap while the engine is running and check for blowback- oil spitting out the hole

I ride a BMW flat twin bike (a boxer). When I sold my first BM (78, 000 miles on the clock), the buyer did just as you showed (easy to do on the pots). He said it was like new and bought it. Have ridden flat twins ever since.

The plugs in 6 and 8 cylinders are a lot of work to get to, 4 cylinders easy.

Scotty, no one will let me run this test. They said I can get a mechanic to look at it but I'm on a budget.

You are honestly telling the public the truth on products and how to save money and how to fix cars that's why your so popular thankfully we got people like you that aren't steering the public the wrong way and I think it's funny to tell the truth about products that work the factories are probably upset about it but at least it forces them to sell good products it's only helping everyone so I'm not sure who dislikes you ever except for the factory owners or something

I was taught to open the throttle a little while cranking to let air in for most accurate readings.

Shouldn't you remove the fuel pump relay before you start cranking the engine over so it doesn't flood the cylinders?

Good tip by you also might mention to open the throttle at least halfway when cranking. Sometimes that can cause an erroneously low reading.

Yes also have s. One follow you punch it if u c blue smoke out of tailpipe there is engine blow-by

Shouldn't we remove the fuse for the fuel pump, to avoid pumping fuel into the cylinders?
