Natural freezer - How to store ice at +25C!

Yakutian land is permafrost, that's why we have ability to store ice, meat and other food in all-year natural freezers. Even at +25C the temperature inside Bulus (“shed” for ice and meat, and it’s under the ground) is -5 -8 C.

Crazy how cold or hot it can get right under surface of the earth... in Siberia you dig two meters and you get a *natural freezer.* In Iceland or parts of Japan you dig two meters and you get a *natural oven.*

Please keep recording the videos and early congrats if you hit 1000 subscribers.

I'm from Myanmar where most regular temperature is around 30 °C. Your place and its temperature amaze me. If I visit there, I may freeze to death. I love watching your sharing and sometimes I wrote about Yakutia and your sharing in YouTube in my language. Thanks for your sharing.

"Cellar" might be a better word in English to describe these structures than "shed". Usually a shed is a small building above ground. A cellar is always underground, usually beneath a house.

Interesting, the exact same system was traditionally used in Quebec, Canada too. Underground fridges and freezers were commonplace until around the 1950s and gigantic blocks of ice of the St. Lawrence river were used to ship perishable goods all the way to (at that time British) India.

The old word for water In Turkic languages is "BU".

derived words; Bulut = cloud, Buu = steam, Buz / muz = ice
or as in sakha language Bulus

Yakutia itself has always seemed such a fascinating and unique place...mainly because of its crazy cold winters...

In the American book 'Little House on the Prairie' ( or maybe it was 'Little House in the Woods' about the dad), they stored ice fir the summer and used it for egg-nog and for desserts.
