Also in sub freezing weather drain the can more often, as water condensate can freeze and plug up the works. And of course drain when engine compartment is warmed up.

Having installed this exact unit to my rig, and I'm a complete novice, it seemed pretty straight forward. It's frightening so many are wrong. How? For the record been running it for over 3 years now and it's one of the best mods I've invested in. It's collected over 900ml of oil that time.

I bought my 2016 79 series Land Cruiser new and fitted a provent 200 catch can. drain about 50-100ml of oil from it every 5000ks. have done about 80, 000 kilometers since fitting it with no issue. good investment to stop the oily mist making its way into the inlet.

Im about to be given a Ssanyong Ute, and this mod was first thing that I had in mind. I cant fathom how people mess this up, if you take 5 minutes to understand how it works it seems bleeding obvious how you would plumb it :)

Good point made. Have seen this mistake myself, some cans like the Ryco are opposite to the pro-vent; ie they have the inlet at the lower and the outlet back into the engine crankcase at the top of the can. Can be confusing.

This paper filter get clogged up after around 2000km especially during winter time and if you don't use the car for a few days and block the passage of air. This is the problem I faced on the past.

Hi there, i have the provent 200 fitted to a 3.2lt ranger. On two occasions now the safety vavle on the bottom has popped out. The filter is only 5000km old and it is definitely hooked up the right way. Cheers in advance.

As a forty year experienced diesel mechanic I say take this trash off your car and throw it in the Bush.

Thanks for the video! As with anything in forums, msg boards etc. there is always misinformation floating around.

Can this be installed after a stock breather valve? E280 cdi has a breather valve on the cam cover and then the breather valve feeds it back to the turbo. Could i splice this between the breather valve and the turbo? Or should i remobe the original breather valve?

These filter catch cans are effective but, if you don't change the filter regularly, it will get clogged up and reduce flow. This is when it starts to be dangerous to your engine.

yes follow the arrows because ryco catch cans are the opposite way

all cans restrict flow thats why they seperate the liquids from the atomised air they slow the flow enabling the liquids time to condense a water seporator on compessed air lines work the same

The spring-loaded valve at the outlet port, what is the purpose of that valve? When it is at closed position on high engine RPM, wouldn't it create high crankcase pressure?

Great video, thanks for the useful info. I have a filter just like the one you use in the clip. That valve down the bottom, does that need any servicing? I've had my catch can for about 4 years & never looked at it. Also, do you know if the top lids/covers are available? Mine doesn't seal well. Thanks very much.

Thanks mate, about to put one on my 2001 Defender TD5. Is there a recommended hose for the PV200? Should you use 1" ID 4-ply flourosilicon?

Mate, you look like Irish or Scottish stock from Victoria, Australia, and like all of my family members. We've been here since the last ¼ of the 1800s. We're Aussie now, but still Celtic.
