I keep posting on all the message board where people talk about GPT-3 that it will probably be good for prototyping, but not for production. Maintaining that code would be a nightmare.

Thank you for talking about this particular aspect of development which some of us have been thinking about. 👍👍....just an afterthought here. ....since AI is able to autocomplete codes (small extent) and find bugs and other such you think that will Jobs will not be destroyed...the number of web developers actually needed to do the job may decrease (by some percentage ) in the future due to these trends.

Totally agree. I think programming has a very important component that is "imagination". That part won't get done through AI, at least not for a very long time.

It’s just the next step in abstraction for a developer. We started feeding a computer 1’s and 0’s, then we wrote machine code, then we got a compiler and now we start to be able to feed natural text in a gpt-3 model, or use of of those no code solutions, that have been around for a while.

I remember those days well, using classic ASP (Visual Basic) on the backend and JavaScript on the frontend to build web applications. When I look back to web development in the 90's it makes me realise how much development technologies have evolved. I think we live in an exciting time to be a developer.

I think the misconception around AI in programming is causing a lot of people who would otherwise jump into it as a career or even side passion/ hobby to pass it by. It's really sad.
