Just feels like Sky's latest attempt to keep you tied into an overpriced monthly contract. Lots of alternatives these days which makes Sky's service look increasingly expensive

No Hard Drive to record to and pressing 'record' takes you to the APP doesn't actually record it just creates a playlist.

So many hidden costs with this, your able to fast forward any adverts for the first 12 months, then Sky charge you an extra £5 a month for doing it. For me personally I'd much rather keep the sky q and buy a decent TV. A lot of new tech for Sky to get involved in 2hich could open a can of worms, especially tied into a long term financial contract.

The paid reviewers are waxing lyrical about this service, but the people who are actually paying for the service are mostly saying it a buggy mess and not ready for prime time

So Sky are so addicted to control that instead of having Android TV apps for example, they only let you get this sort of thing in a TV they make themselves?

I like the idea of having Sky built in to the TV. Need to try this. Good Job Tom. 😎👍

I've owned the LG 49in 4K Nanoncell LED TV for over a year. Where it excels is having the inbuilt apps of Apple TV+, Netflix, Now and Prime Video. The picture quality is excellent as is the sound. My recent calculations put Sky at over 3 times the cost of using the LG with the Apps that I have listed and the Sky TV set has an unknown history in terms of reliability.

I'll never knowingly give Sky any of my money. Their whole business model involves taking things away from you and then charging you more to get it back.

Our sofas we've recently purchased for our newly decorated sitting room is anthracite colour, so the anthracite colour will look lovely plus our lass likes her music so the sound system will be champion...

It’s an odd proposition to buy really. There are some positives like the remote not having the sponsored Netflix button and actually having decent sound for once. (I appreciate the iMac reference since that’ll be my next computer upgrade for the exact same reasons)! However if your not going to get sky tv, then the entire interface seems pretty pointless. With sky packages (even with sky Q) being very expensive plus with things like charging extra for 4K (things that should be included as standard in 2021). It’s clearly a tactic to keep people in the sky ecosystem and prevent them from cancelling the service. The advantage of old sky was being able to record shows and then skip the ads, now sky want to charge you for that! From a tech standpoint. The lack of 120Hz, VRR etc just means that it’s a product that isn’t really an upgrade if you already have a 4K tv. You could probably find something better and cheaper if you shop around. For that, I just couldn’t recommend it to anyone

Sky Glass sounds promising but at the moment strikes me as being a bit 'unfinished'.

The lack of any option to download and store content locally is a huge oversight in my opinion when they could easily have added an option to use the USB ports for external storage even if it isn't the most elegant solution for most casual viewers. The big issue though is that if anything goes wrong with the Sky part of the TV then the whole TV has to be replaced. All in one solutions sound like a good idea on paper - reduced cables and power leads - but do come with their own issues if they break down. Also, Sky really haven't given this TV much thought in terms of gaming support with its disappointing lack of VRR support and its 60 Hz display.

In my opinion, anyone interested in buying a Sky Glass TV would be best to wait 1-2 years before doing so as future models will undoubtedly be better and have more features. It's never good to be an early adopter, especially when its a manufacturer's first attempt at a new product.

I've had my sky glass medium now for 3 days, and I have to say I have been extremely impressed it's all in one and the sound is incredible. I would recommend it, I even have all my purchases already on the playlist so not having a hard drive really doesn't matter.

As an American, I was curious how much this all cost and was absolutely FLOORED when I looked up the price not just for the TV, but the whole package. Cable/Internet is unbelievably cheaper in the UK than it is in the US. I'm envious.

We have just bought this for our Mom as she has dementia and struggles to remember how to use the TV so we can watch the screen on the CCTV camera and say Hello Sky play channel 101 for example through our Amazon Alexa Drop in service and the TV will switch over!!! Absolutely awesome we are so pleased so far.

Nice video. I watched the Sky Glass press launch and the concept sounded really cool. One thing I don’t like though is the playlist function instead of being able to record. I have been a Sky customer for 8 years now and currently have a Sky Q HDR box along with an LG sound bar and and LG OLED tv so I would be taking a big drop in picture quality if I decided to purchase Sky Glass. Me personally if you already have Sky Q and a decent TV then stick with it. I also found out that if you do decide to switch then you lose all of your sky discounts that you have accumulated over the years so just something to think about.

Such a good and balanced review. Just ordered my 65 inch Sky Glass today on a contract, will see how we get on!

Best to wait a year for this, worked for Sky when Q was rolled out and it took a while for that system to identify and fix issues, this'll be no different.

Its a great idea, but has a long way to go. like others have said there are features locked behind paid packages etc, plus having no record function (id loose my entire SG1 and Atlantis collection!) is a big no for me. also not supporting 120hz and VRR is a let down as that was last/this years biggest innovation in home TV. After recently upgrading to the Samsung QLED with those features i think il be happy for a few years, and see what Glass2 (or whatever it will be called) comes out with :)
