A Tory MP has sparked fury after claiming poverty-hit Brits forced to rely on food banks "cannot budget" and "cannot cook properly".

Conservative Lee Anderson left MPs stunned when - despite the country being in the grip of a cost of living crisis due to spiralling inflation, Universal Credit cutbacks and rising energy bills - he said "there is not this massive use for food banks in this country".

Every mp should be made to live on the equivalent of minimum wage for 37.5hours a week. Pay real rent, bills, have a cheap car and no outside help for 6months n then come up with solutions.

Someone should remind this ignorant individual who demoted the role of domestic science or home economics or whatever label it was given in your area. A lack of this knowledge is on the Tories, as are many other contributing factors they have either espoused or failed to address.
