On May 11 2022, Conservative MP Lee Anderson stated that people use food banks because they "cannot cook properly" and "they cannot budget". We visited Lee Anderson's local food bank in Sutton-in-Ashfield to see if the users of this food bank agree with their MP.

As the cost of living crisis continues, with rising inflation, gas prices and food prices, use of food banks has doubled in a fortnight here, with 250 new referrals between 6 and 19 May — the period inflation reached 11 per cent for the poorest in Britain.

It is interesting that the head of the food bank felt unable to speak on a political issue. I would like Lee Anderson to tell us why.

I would hazard a guess that a large percentage of the current executive would not have a clue how to cook. The likes of Rees-Mogg come to mind.

They're getting something much more valuable than free food. Learning how to prep and cook raw ingredients so that you can eat tasty, nutritious meals is a gift for life! There's no need to live on quick noodles, jam butties, or expensive ready meals when you can cook a chicken & vegetable casserole for 60p per portion.

I agree some young ones can’t cook so instead of insulting them help them without judging

I find it hard to separate this guy Anderson and the guy from Stoke Johnathan Gullis I think is his name, Anderson was proudly stating his working class Tory credentials the other day..An obnoxious hate filled man who would have been considered a collaborator in France/Belgium /Holland during WW2…
