On the Ultra (1) you have four options - tap, double tap, close fist, double close fist. I have mine limited to double tap to press the crown, and close fist to turn off the screen. I had to limit it because it was working too well and I was getting accidental actions. There’s also two interfaces: full and minimal.

I imagine a “new feature” cannot be highlighted like it was without it being very reliable. The SIP in the 9 and Ultra 2 probably make that gesture reliable and consistent.

It will be interesting to see comparisons when they are out.

I have a series 5 and I’ve used it for a while now. Maybe it works better on the newer series, but I’ve had very little issue with it on mine

I'm very curious what sensors and input they're using to dictate the activation for this trigger.

Is it the slight friction that occurs on the skin when your thumb moves, is it the gyroscopic input, is it audio analysis, a combination?

It's pretty wild that it's accurate enough to get to this point. The lack of reliability in itself is not surprising.

It worked on my series 6 watch, but only if I double tap my thumb and middle finger. It doesn't recognise it if I do the thumb and forefinger. 🤷🏻‍♂️

This runs on the CPU and chews thru battery versus the new watches where there’s a dedicated native process to handle this feature and more (double tap, closed fist, etc)

Done this on my series 6 multiple times, I already thought the ultra was a waste of money last year, but the ultra 2 is literally the same device
