Bought the wrong coating, floors aren’t level, managed to flip it over (who does that). I’m so confused by this critique

Personally, I'd been waiting for Apple to disconnect the computer and display for some time so was very happy when the Studio and Studio Display were released. Now I can hopefully upgrade the computer in years to come and stick with the 27" display's I run side by side rather then binning the whole thing.

You're right about slight differences in horizontal alignment as one of mine requires a business card under the stand to 'level it' to the other but not a massive thing. Come to think of it, my old 27" Retina iMac had the same problem (same side as well).

If you use it like a professional designer like I do, in my case motion design, the base Studio Display is amazing. No need for the upgrades. I just bought a nice 'designy' monitor stand, looks much better imo and you get to have extra space on the desk. The image quality, sound, resolution and perfect compatibility with any Apple computer just creates a seamless plug-and-play high-end solution. Many other other monitors will have scaling issues and terrible sound. Guess it just depends what you are after. I like the clean desk and plug-and-play style setup.

If you don’t mind me asking what stand for your iPad is that? I did not see it listed in your description. Thank you 🙏

The fall of the display was hard to watch. Can’t believe how it damaged your chair, desk, and mat 😭

Nano-Taxure makes a really huge difference. After expecting this at Apple shop I did my decision to avoid it at any price.

Nice of you to abuse the monitor then put in back in the box and return it. Classy.

By the way Mike, how has your experience with the 40" LG 5k2k been compared to the 34" BenQ PD3420Q in terms of sharpness, text scaling and the curve? Are there things about the BenQ that you miss? Thanks!

Update, Very sadly my Studio Display blew up yesterday, belching smoke for 6 minutes before a final loud bang. Only lasted 18 months, very scary failure and I did get it on video. Posted pictures of the failure on my community tab and what to look out for before this failure. I can't post a video because I now have no display. Update 2 Initial Investigations are pointing at the slim internal power supply thats failed, the left hand side section when looking at the display. The staff at the Apple store have seen all my videos of the failure and they were astonished, looked over the Display with a fine tooth comb but never opened it up. They could see from the video it's a destroyed unit. I purchased it from Apple 18 months ago and I'm in the refund process. Sadly that refund process isn't as automatic as it should be. And what's wild is they didn't keep the very damaged Studio Display. I'm the proud owner of a bricked, burnt out Studio Display. So I'm feeling rather special.

wish I had seen this vid before spending a few hrs reading on what others had to say about nano texture. I had decided to get one with nano texture as someone was selling it used for a very good price. I am still on the look out for a normal one with height adjust. getting one used saves you a lot of $$.

I was concerned that these would be better than the Pro Display XDR (Design wise and overall things such as this having a built-in webcam w/ center stage) but after your review I'm glad I did not sell my XDRs to get this. It's a good monitor, but not a great one for colour accuracy. I'm sticking with my XDRs until Apple comes out with a REALLY better option, I think you should consider that investment too.

Got mine when it dropped to 1299 xd. I mainly got it for the build quality, in my opinion the old apple Cinema display 30 is still a good 1920x1080 monitor ahead of its time. And I see this being the same, . Good build quality so good it will last 10 years, and at least 4k60 in this case 5k60. Thunderbolt I think will last a long time but look how that turned out in the Cinema displays case.

And when the macbook is connected at all times, its charging at the same time right. Doesnt it effect the battery? I’ve just been curious and worried about this bit

Something that's rarely mentioned, but is extremely important for me is built-in hardware calibration, which my BenQ monitor has. This is the most accurate calibration I've experienced, and it's so easy to do. Also, a reminder to recalibrate my monitor appears in the lower left corner once a month.

Apple and other high-end monitor manufacturers calibrate their products at the factory, which is wonderful; however, monitors age and need regular calibrations. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe that apple monitors offer hardware calibration.
