The GPU shortage has hit gamers hard, but Nvidia has an unorthodox solution: Re-release old GPUs. It’s SO crazy that it might actually work… MIGHT.

Purchases made through some store links may provide some compensation to Linus Media Group.

“So tell us, NVIDIA, what inspired you to release a second RTX 2060 right next to the original?”

NVIDIA: “Money!”

There's no way it's been 3 years since the 2060 launched

I actually *did* build my most recent computer in 2019. I wasn't too thrilled about the RTX 2070, but seeing how things are now, I'm glad I bought it.

It’s entirely possible that their relationship with suppliers and TSMC predicted an opening in production and part availability that allowed them to reissue this card. Given how it’s the most popular SKU (Turing) that targeted an affordable price, it’s a no brainer that Nvidia can sell to make extra bank during the shortage.

Aside from scalpers, I am concerned we will see more movement to crypto goons than gamers.

I'm happy I'm too broke to afford a gpu at MSRP, now I can't even be mad about inflated prices!

got a 2080 for $300 right before the 30xx launch. i thank my lucky stars every time i turn on my PC. i feel so bad for folks trying to get anything decent in the current market.

I love the tag-teaming between Linus and Anthony. Keep this format!

It's actually insane how cheap gpu's are in the US. Here in poland rtx 3060 costs over 1117$

2060 12gb is a card made specifically for miners that's why no founders edition and Nvidia doesn't want people to get free samples for reviews.

They're crypto cards in plain sight without calling them CMPs lol

Is this why i waited so long to skip the RTX 2000 series? Literally years? To have to buy 2000 series card again?

Oh boy.. the world sure is crazy in 2021.

I'm quite happy with my 2060 super. I can run anything I want at very nice settings. I don't feel the need to always have THE best hardware. I can't afford it anyway.

I remember walking to a local computer hardware retailer a few years ago and deciding on whether I wanted to pick up the 2060 or the 2060 Super. I decided on the 2060 because it was $50 cheaper than the $430 Super. I walked up to the counter and the guy said, "You sure you want to buy this now, because in just a little bit there's going to be a big release of new NVidia cards that are going to be way better than this." I knew what I was getting, and I told him that I was happy with my selection. So I walked out of the store that day with a 2060.

That release the guy was talking about wasn't for another 18 months, and I've been more than happy with my first-gen 2060. I honestly feel like I lucked out just because I didn't buy into the salesman's "promise" that something better was coming up. Word to the wise: Research and invest in what not only works for you but how it will satisfy your needs.

Side note: $100 for your swacket? Holy shit. That's expensive.

looking at it from a different perspective, if you purchased your GPU Pre-Covid/ Chip shortage era. You essentially hit the lottery. The rare instance where early adoption actually pays off.

This should've been a 2660..we havent had a 2/3550, 2/3660/Ti to surge more GPUs into the low end market, even if its performance crosses into previous generations.

That poor prebuilt company that had to fulfill my 30 series order that I put through before they dropped. It took almost a year, but god damn I payed 1200 for a computer and the gpu is worth 1100 now. Thank you ibuypower, I forgive you for your phones being off the hook all the time.
