Self defense works but certain situations are better avoided

In our Krav Maga course, the first thing our instructor ever taught us was, you can't be stabbed if you're not there.

The killer will wait for us to complete our moves...😅

I was always told 'lose your honour and run, ' 'don't fight and lose your life, '

To clarify for others, what I meant was if you can avoid a fight you should

My dad is a black belt in krav maga and had been doing it for over 12 years. He always told me that the only time you should use self defense is if the person attacking you is faster than you 😂

The guy did it slow too. If you try what he did in a real version of this, You'll get stabbed. If you're cornered, just obey and wait to run.

As someone whos friend who does krav maga is sitting next to them laughing at the stupidity of the first coach i don't think that is proper krav maga 😂

The thing I love about Krav maga is that it's simple self defense and teaches self defense. Krav maga is not about knocking down someone who attacks you, its about getting out if the fight and call for help.

As a Krav Maga Practionar please let me tell you that this is not what we are taught. Whoever that Guy in the video shown in Nats Video is, he is teaching some massive bullshido. Actual Krav Maga is more similar to MMA than anything else. Sadly, there are a lot of absolutly dogshit Krav schools out there. Please don't let demonstrations like this form your picture of the Art. As I said before it's more similar to MMA If taught correctly, as you usually cross train it with other martial arts like Muay Thai, Judo or Wrestling.

The entire aspect of Knife defense is only a small gap in the entire system and is only taught to students on a high level of skill and experience.

Also Krav Maga DOESNT focus on knifes alone. What's also taught is Defence against dull weapons like clubs or bats. There it actually implements different systems like Filipino Stick fighting.

On average you learn your striking and grappling first, then your ground work and after that the scenarios begin where you're put in "real life" scenarios to prove your skills and gain experience. It's similar to sparring: Usually full contact with protection gear to simulate the stress and exhaustion of a real fight without injuring each other. You're also not put in weight classes, to make it more "realistic" by giving you different size and experience opponents. Apart from that the only difference to sparring is that you're sometimes in the corner of a room or start from the ground with someone above you OR have two guys attack you. Usually the goal is to get out of the situation fast and run away afterwards. Sometimes regular sparring is also implemented to focus on tequnique and fitness.

Now, keep in mind that this is what an ideal class would look like. It's hard to find good schools and classes, as most of them teach shit like shown in the video.

I hope I could give you a better understanding of Krav Maga.

Questions are welcomed

That's true but as a ex soldier i can assure you there is some situation that you can't run away and is good to be prepared for fight this tipe of problems. Some time the guy with the knife run faster than you and stab you in the back while you are running away. (But sur if you can escape do it) but it is not always possible

Running is an option, but if you make a sudden move you’re either lucky to get hit in a less vulnerable area and run away, get real lucky and escape or be very unlucky and get hit in a vulnerable area. So you can run and risk that or try a defence

Well if the knife is pressed to your back you have no space to run away i've done Krav maga for 1 year and our coach always said if it's enough far run but when the knife is few centimeters from your body you better be ready to pacifi the attacker.

Here is something better. Stay out of fights, unless you can't, then it completely necessary

The AK-47, officially known as the Avtomat Kalashnikova (Russian: Автомат Калашникова, lit. 'Kalashnikov's automatic [rifle]'; also known as the Kalashnikov or just AK), is a gas-operated assault rifle that is chambered for the 7.62×39mm cartridge. Developed in the Soviet Union by Russian small-arms designer Mikhail Kalashnikov, it is the originating firearm of the Kalashnikov (or "AK") family of rifles. After more than eight decades since its creation, the AK-47 model and its variants remain one of the most popular and widely used firearms in the world. Design work on the AK-47 began in 1945. It was presented for official military trials in 1947, and, in 1948, the fixed-stock version was introduced into active service for selected units of the Soviet Army. In early 1949, the AK was officially accepted by the Soviet Armed Forces[9] and used by the majority of the member states of the Warsaw Pact.
The model and its variants owe their global popularity to their reliability under harsh conditions, low production cost (compared to contemporary weapons), availability in virtually every geographic region, and ease of use. The AK has been manufactured in many countries and has seen service with armed forces as well as irregular forces and insurgencies throughout the world. As of 2004, "of the estimated 500 million firearms worldwide, approximately 100 million belong to the Kalashnikov family, three-quarters of which are AK-47s".[4] The model is the basis for the development of many other types of individual, crew-served, and specialized firearms.

I practice Krav Maga, and my master always says that the better way to survive a robbery is not to react. It is also good to remember that Krav Maga is always in transformation, which means there are multiple good ways avaible for you to protect yourself.

Hugs from Brazil! 🇧🇷

I do Krav Maga. Gyms like that do not represent all of Krav, and my gym always reminds us that fighting is the VERY last option, and only for if you can't run, or they are trying to take you somewhere else. (You are much more likely to be injured or killed if they take you somewhere less safe, like their basement or something.)

As a Krav practitioner, we are taught to run in a scenario like in the clip. If they have a hold on us like a hand on our shoulder, that’s a different story.
