Really neat. From what I've read the formation of the mountains in that region are really interesting because they are formed in part by the indian plate running into asia in more recent times, but before that mountains formed there from lots of other processes. It has this long timeline as old as life of adding mountains through subduction and island chains piling onto the mainland and thrust faulting and pretty much every way you can make mountains.

Thank you for the video you have made. I just want to maybe add some information for the people who will watch this video.

Kazakhstan, including the territory of the Almaty area, was not merely a disputed region between China and Russia. This land belonged to the people of the Kazakh Khanate since 1465, which was formed by Kerei and Janibek Khans, and was governed by Kazakh khans and biyes.

Furthermore, the Almaty region, particularly the entire southern part, was inhabited by the tribe of the Kazakh Senior juz. The central part and the entire northern region were the inhabited territories of the Central (Middle) juz, while the Junior juz resided in the western part of the Kazakh Khanate.

This arrangement persisted until our last khan, Kenesary Khan, was assassinated in 1847. Only then, in 1873, did we become part of the Russian Empire as a whole until its dissolution in 1917. Subsequently, we experienced the tumultuous period of the USSR, but fortunately regained our independence in 1991.

Therefore, what you stated is not entirely accurate; we had our own Kazakh rulers, comprising more than 20 khans, before any external control. We did not belong to any neighboring country and always maintained our own government.

Funny story about "Alma-Ata"! It's a russian based name of the city, Alma-Ata doesn't make sense on Kazakh language. For it to make sense it would be "Alma atasy" which means "Grandfather of Apples". We choose Almaty cause it's similar to Almaly which means Apple like adjective.
