How to assemble a PVS-14 night vision monocular.

The AN/PVS-14 Monocular Night Vision Device (MNVD) is an extremely versatile night vision monocular. It is one of the most widely used night vision devices by US armed forces. The PVS-14 can be used helmet-mounted, hand-held, or weapon mounted behind a night vision compatible red dot or holographic weapon sight like an Aimpoint or Eotech.

The PVS-14 uses a second or third generation image intensifier tube (MX-11769 or MX-10160 type).

Ultimate Night Vision is an industry leader in night vision, thermal imaging and digital NV devices. Night vision is not just a profession for us, it is our passion. Here in Texas, we are fortunate enough to be able to use NV and thermal scopes for hog hunting, coyote hunting, and hunting other predators and varmints at night. The firsthand knowledge gained through hunting with NVD's on a regular basis allows us to provide accurate and relevant information to our customers.

We carry a wide variety of optics from all major manufacturers including Trijicon, Pulsar, Flir, Armasight, L3, Harris and more. We strive to provide unbiased information to aid customers in the decision-making process. We also have a nationwide rental program which gives customers the unique opportunity to test and compare various devices under real-world conditions before committing to a large purchase.

Our channel features product reviews, instructional videos, comparisons, and plenty of actual hunting footage.

we’ve hit a pinnacle in NV / FLIR etc where costs are measured by competition. It’s exciting that the costs are starting to fall for some really superb NV.

I have always wanted to know that. I'm proud of myself for accurately guessing some of the procedures and work environment necessary to work on nods. I was a little off but not by much.

Love this! Looking all over now to pick up myself a image tube, and a Carson house to build my own PVS 14. Just don’t know where to look when trying to find the image intensifier

Do you normally use a torque driver with the housing screws, or just go by feel?

And did you change gloves after greasing the objective lens threads? I didn't see that on camera and was concerned about you getting grease all over the optical surfaces.

Thank you YT algorithm. I’m gonna try sourcing parts to make my first tube 🟢

Could Argon be used to purge optics such as this, or would it be an inferior or ineffective purging gas? I ask because it seems you'd have no reason to worry about the gas escaping if it were the purging gas, since argon is heavier than air.

Is it more cost effective/practical to build your own NV device?

How necessary are those specialty tools and where can you find them?

Definitely earned a new sub here!! Awesome video, but my question is where did you get the nifty little tools you used in this video for tightening up everything internally and the nitrogen purging equipment? I have an older pvs14 that needs some parts changed out but I have never ventured into doing it on my own and want to be sure to do it all correct and precise so any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for sharing!!

are all 18mm IIT's compatible between PVS-7 and PVS-14 bodies?
I'm curious, because I've seen some "affordable" PVS-14 bodies for around the 500$ mark, and personally, I wouldn't mind throwing an older Gen2+ 18mm tube in it, but I also like the PVS-7 (though I haven't seen any bodies for those)

Are there other cheaper 18mm IIT's say from russia or china that will work with PVS-7/14 bodies? I know there's a ton of elitists out there, I've used Gen3+ and I know how good it is, but I've also used older Gen2+ stuff and for what I need I think Gen2 will suffice *IF the price is right*

Is there a good way to clean tube lenses?

How do you know which are defects on the tube and what is dirt from assembly? I started off with a super clean surface and everything, including aluminum foil but because of the fit and finish nothing fit without lots of attempts and manipulation so before you know it shit was flying everywhere

Is the adhesive necessary to add on tube lockring? Is it enough recoil proof without it?
