Katie you are so fun to watch. I'm 74 from Texas and youbtwo remind me of my chores when I was growing up in the country.
You two are doing a good job. Love Stephen.

When it is hot try covering them with shade cloth. Too try and keep the heat stress from setting in on the plants. A little bit of shade will help keep the moisture around the plants and helps keep them from getting burnt.

Beautiful garden! When planting 3 sisters, give the corn a couple weeks headstart and then they will be big enough for the beans! Also, purslane is very high in nutrients. You can add that to your salads too! Gardens are a lifelong lesson. I consider it an experiment each year. Love your videos!😊

When over 90 degrees using shade cloth helps protect fruits and vegetables from burning. Love your channel.

The heat has been brutal everywhere, but it especially affects our food plants and livestock the most. Ya'll have continued to do better with expansion and getting more animals to butcher. Great explanation with the gardens. Love ya'll ❤️

We live in Orpington in the UK and was so suprised when you mentioned the Orpington chicken. Here is a little history I found on-line for your viewers to have a read if they are interested. " The Orpington is a British breed of chicken. It was bred in the late nineteenth century by William Cook of Orpington, at that time in Kent in south-east England. It was intended to be a dual-purpose breed, to be reared both for eggs and for meat, but soon became exclusively a show bird" Its nice to be famous for a nano second even if it is about a chicken....🤣🤣🤣

Hi Katie, that's nice of u keeping up with ur gardening it's a way to have ur organic vegetables. Also keeping yourself busy if not helping out with the improvements of your homesteading. Good job and very beneficial for u and Greg. Godbless u both and stay safe..

FYI Coriander / cilantro HATES being too dry / hot / fighting for space. I am an organic farmer - try to cultivate ground then put black polythene down for a couple of weeks - weeds will germinate - either leave poly on a bit longer to kill them or flame them ( gregs roof burner would be great !) - the plant .., Its not easy growing stuff but often fun, well done.

Katie, you probably gave the weeds the perfect fertiliser with the goat straw! . Even if you don't pull out the weeds now, at least cut them off so they don't flower and seed 😊xx

For two skilled and determined hard workers you achieve a great deal. When the construction is fully completed minus maintenance and keeping livestock I reckon you will have a fantastic market garden. I miss my very large garden - I have a ‘postage stamp’ now! Keep attacking! You are an amazing couple! Thanks for posting your vlogs which I enjoy and learn much from. Regards. Phil, Suffolk U.K. 🇬🇧

For berries and others heat stressed use some cut brush branches shading to reduce sun intensity reducing sunburn. Cut with long stem to hold leaves above the plants needing shading. Not too much. 10-20% shading is enough.

Soil boosting, Heugelmound notice how the pushed up inbankments are thick and green? My spelling is bad, but check it out on the Web. You will need to amend the soil, and fertilize the new mounds to grow for next season. Check the PH of your soil, see what you got., the berry bushes could use a sun screen net so they don’t burn up. Set up a trickle hose feeder for them out off a barrel.

Hi Katie, re-using the straw from the chicken-coop probably brought in a lot of the weed seeds that you were trying to prevent

Well a garden can be a full time job for a few weeks, an weeds are not your friend for sure. Then the canning is a full time job for a few days. But man oh man does it all taste so much better 😜. Yeppers 👍 I'll come to dinner anytime. Just ring the bell good an 🔊 loud. Thanks for sharing.

Have you had banana zucchini muffins? They are by far our favorite use for the buckets of zucchini we harvest every year. A food processor is it a Godsend for shredding zucchini. I already have 30 some cups in the freezer!

Potatoes are part of the nightshade family! Unlike nightshade, purslane is great in salads and a replacement for lettuce in a sandwich. Purslane and vinegar -yum.
