In this video, I show you how to easily use your Android Phone Or Tablet as a Screen for your Raspberry Pi 400 Raspberry Pi 4 Raspberry pi 3 or basically an HDMI enabled device from the Xbox to Nintendo Switch or even a Mini Computer.
This involves perching a cheap USB to HDMI capture card and a USB type C to Female USB cable but in the end, it works great and can come in really handy on the go!

I love the way how single board computers are becoming more and more efficient day by day and now becoming a good alternative for those who can't buy those expensive processors, rams, disks etc.

I always wondered if a tablet could be used as a monitor for another device. Thanks for sharing.

I just read that post yesterday! I had already ordered my HDMI in to USB out dongle. Note to anyone else doing this: There are plenty of USB hub or USB in > HDMI out devices, they will most likely not work for this. Seemed like a cool idea for a bunch of things. You keep making these vids and I'll keep watching, solid content as usual.

I use the Pi4 to view/record the output from the USB capture device. I use ffmpeg to do the recording. I also use it in the same way as mentioned above and have been since the beginning of July as mentioned in my post in the Manjaro Arm Forum. The Android software used in the demo above works on Android 11.

I use this system to connect the Raspberry to my Macbook using OBS. It's very usefull when you need to troubleshoot a boot error on the pi and can't use VNC. Now I wish there were something similar for iOS, I have a couple of old iPad that would be wonderful portable monitors for these kind of situations!

What a great idea!
This is so useful for quick testing device who had broken screen, or just troubleshooting some device with broken or no screen!
I'm feeling so stupid not realize it, in fact here Indonesia that device only cost about 6 usd!
Thank you so much!
