People are trivializing GREAT music. This is a way to devalue GREAT work. I'm with Fagen

I love this genre of music!!! And by the way, I read that they reached out to Donald Fagen. He told them to eff off and hung up! 🤣🤣🤣

Such a great documentary. I don’t know what Donald Fagen’s problem is. There’s a lot to be learned from this doc. Highly enjoyable.

Here's my take: if you're going to do a very real documentary on "yacht rock" it would need to engage in a very way about this term which is, by the way, extremely and weirdly derogatory which is an entire article in itself. No it's not yacht rock because it implies a kind preppie cluelessness...and also their songs are more

Stupid label. Use the glue removal stuff to remove it.😜

BS, this music wasnt played in malls, or pharmacies! Im with Fagen. This was real music, not some label a jerk thought up to peddle to a network.

Well, I know that in all things HISTORY+TIME=GOOD, but for fuck's sake. These are the absolute last records left in the thrift stores for a reason. Tunefulness is hard, I'll give you that. Blandness is inexcusable. And that was the goal. Cut all the edges off everything. Points for being responsible for punk in America. But god damn! Life's too short to go back and listen to this crap voluntarily. Fred and QuestLove should know better. Are they trying to be in every music documentary?

ICK. Never liked the smarmy, pseudointellectual, anti-rock ‘n’ roll schmaltz that was steely Dan – never liked anybody who were into them, also

Steely Dan are definitely NOT 'Yacht Rock'. Instrumentally, their music might have a deceptive patina of that, but their lyrics are much too snarky and subversive to fit in with the overall genre. However, if I had a yacht, I'd definitely be blasting the snaky, sinewy strains of Babylon Sisters across the bay on a fine summer's day. Cuz... "You got to shake it baby you got to shake it..."
