FAUCI SPEAKS TO COLLEGE STUDENTS ABOUT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 AMONGST YOUNG PEOPLE: Dr. Anthony Fauci of the NIH joins an online forum with Georgetown University students about how young people can help slow the spread of COVID-19. Younger Americans across the country are accounting for a much larger percentage of the latest coronavirus cases than they did at the start of the pandemic. In Florida, the median age of new coronavirus cases has dropped from 65 to 35 years old, and in Arizona people ages from 20-44 account for nearly half of all new cases. Just yesterday, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio said that though the city wide positivity rate is going down, there’s been an increase in positive cases for New Yorkers ages 20-29. Officials are pointing towards the state’s reopening plans and relaxing guidelines as an explanation for these increases, in addition to early information suggesting that young people were less likely to be affected by the virus. Fauci, who is the nation’s leading expert in infectious diseases, has recently been publicly rebuked by Pres. Trump, telling the Financial Times last week that his relationship with the White House may be complicated since he has ‘a reputation of speaking the truth at all times and not sugar-coating things.’

Today the CDC members joined in condemning Trump's failed response to the pandemic. Now Trump has tried to order states not to report their information on COVID-19 to the CDC. Trump does have that authority.
