Got the groundskeeper Rake and was going to rake my 6700 sf of lawn halfway through my arms were spent. Wife bought me the green works thatcher and worked like a charm. The tines are thin but the machine is affordable and pulled more thatch where I had used the groundskeeper. I bought some amp xc lime from site one and barricade dg from Amazon.

Glad you got yours done before the snow storm tomorrow! Ah the joys of living in New England! I just finished burning all my brush. Moles and voles ravaged my whole lawn last fall so hiring a professional to take care of that is next on my agenda! Stay safe and thanks for the videos!

I raked right a part of my lawn and pulled out an entire bag of thatch only raking 1/2 the lawn. Then I mowed the whole lawn.
What a difference! My zoysia at 2 1/4” looked so much better where I raked it with the groundskeeper II. I then dethatched the remainder and reran the mower over the freshly raked half. This rake is a keeper...a Groundskeeper 😂

Another great video! I agree with you 100% on mulching. I personally bag 95% of the time. A mulched cut can never come close to a good bagged cut. I'm ok with applying an extra of fertilizer if need be.

Went out this past Wednesday and used my Groundskeeper II rake on my lawn. Got 3 bags of thatch so it definitely does a great job, but be warned it's quite the workout. Unfortunately with 3-7" of snow due here in New England tomorrow it puts a damper on my Spring lawn care regimen.
Will keep an eye out for your Coronavirus video. Take care and stay safe.

It's July, near Chicago..My lawn looks pretty good but, there's a few areas where I can see a light haze mixed in with healthy grass. It's not a disease or fert burn. Would it be ok to power rake it now, or should I just wait till spring. I did just a little bit as a test and got out a ton of thatch within minutes lol...thanks, and great channel!!

Ever use the mower blades with the dethatcher prongs. just wondering if it works. Every spring im out there with a dethatcher rack ( prongs have no give) I spend hours and it tears up the lawn and my back, but it does pull up a ton of stuff. Im just finishing this years process, next year I will look a groundskeeper 2. BTW I enjoy your channel.

I have that same Allet Liberty 43 but don't love it. Considering the Swardman but not sure if I will stay electric with their Electra model or go for the Edwin 2.1

Thanks - I got the Groundskeeper last Fall and it does work really well for thatch. However I have two Red Oak trees in the front yard and that rake can not get much of the acorn debris picked up or moved so I have to use a conventional rake for spring cleanup; unless you know of something that will work well for acorn debris.

I used my groundskeeper rake about 5 minutes before the handle came off. Screw holding it on pulled through a crack in the plastic. Now it has a proper wooden handle.

Should this be done before or after the first fertilizing? Zone 5. I use a tractor attachment pull behind dethatcher/comb. It requires about 3 or 4 passes to get up everything to the surface, then I hit it with a push mower with a bag to suck everything up. It's not perfect as it also pulls up a significant amount of live grass, but in a couple weeks it fills in nicely. I've always done it in the fall before plugging and based on your video that's probably wrong. I'll try it in the spring this time. thanks for the tip.

Will dethaching help with pine needles smothering the lawn?

Great videos. Purchased our first home in September last year (In Massachusetts too!) and found your channel helpful then. I'm back today and subscribed. Thanks!

I live in northern Illinois, question, do I mow my lawn a couple of times before I dethatch ? I have a new machine, but I've heard the grass needs to be actively grow before dethatching or the lawn will get tore up
