Traxxas Rustler XL-5 - On-Road Runs with Castle Sidewinder 8th Combo

It's been done to death.. I know.. converting a Rustler over to an on-road for speed. BUT, I haven't attempted to hit 100MPH with any build yet, so, what the Hell.

For this project I'm using a 3 year old XL-5 and Castle Sidewinder 8th Combo. The gearing in this video is 45/76, and I tracked the speeds for 2s-5s, until 6s where the tire blows off. (So much for the XO-1 tire rating of 118MPH).

I have build thread up at URC that goes through the transformation:

Oh that's a badass rustler lol. I've never had a tire blow off a rim yet let alone I haven't even had a blowout lmfao. The worst that happened was tires balding over time and a tiny tear in my Traxxas e Revo 1/8 brushless stock talon tire on the rear left side. I've been lucky to not have any severe crashes. Good shit man !

Get a kinexis brushless esc and motor combo. It has much better control and does not get super hot like the castle.

Nice Rustler. I have the Sidewinder 8th in my ruckus. I was considering attempting a street swap for some serious speed runs. Any tips?
