I think the Traxxas 4wd Slash platform is being pushed beyond its limit with the big wheels on the rustler. I have a 4wd stampede and everytime I take it for a bash sometime breaks, usually the drive shaft or hubs or links.
Smaller wheels on the slash really makes it bulletin proof

Hey kev, I bought the same rustler you have and took it to it’s first skatepark bash!! It rips even on 2s!! Such a nice car, and I can thank you for persuading me to get one. Great work!!

My take from this is. Buy a rear wheel drive. So your only replacing the back axles.

Low tsm is meant for high traction surfaces so it reduces your steering input to reduce rollover or sliding out while high tsm is meant for low traction surfaces like ice as an extreme example. High tsm gives you high control as you won’t likely rollover anyways. The more you know!

As a Rustler 4x4 vxl owner, I do agree that the driveshafts are weak. For instance when I was doing a sharp turn, it went up on 2 wheels and the tire must have spun so fast that the u joint on the driveshaft broke. I've also been recently having a problem with my spur gear stripping too. And I just drive it in my backyard I don't do anything crazy. I did jump it good once though and snapped the rear axle carrier. I also ran it into a trash can🤦‍♂️ Great video Kev!

Hey Kev, I've got a 6s rustler 4x4, totally not worth doing. It's crazy and I usually only run it on 3s. 4s is perfectly op tho.
But the sway bar kit TOTALLY changed the car. That and 60k diff oil. Those to are a complete game changer. You'll absolutely love the car at that point.
Btw MIP driveshafts hold up to 6s tumbles across parking lots 💪

My brushless converted OG Rustler 2wd is the most fun RC I own. Absolute wheelie machine and will break anything plastic in the driveline until you make it all metal.

Anyone having this problem with driveshafts should just use slightly smaller tires. Slash tires and a slightly bigger pinion(depending on user 13-18 tooth) and you’ll have no more issues. Other tire wheel choices are good too just needs to be smaller. Also make sure if you ever replace the shafts be sure to get the right ones. There’s (X)heavy duty(black) and (A)extreme heavy duty(grey),

The only thing I found that will hold up is the MIP splined driveshafts. A little pricey but well worth the money

I bougt GPM axles front and rear. They have been working for 6 month now. have to make a shim to put between the bearings in the rear hubs.
