These home insurance rates are outrageous! And most won’t even cover my home because it was built in 1990. Yet I am force to have insurance because I still owe money on the house. If it was up to me I wouldn’t even have insurance!

I do hope they are able to reign in the greed of these insurance companies. I had to recently replace my roof because they did not like it's looks even though most inspectors said I had at least 7 or 8 years left. Then when I had the roof replaced the cost had doubled from when I checked in Nov. of 2020 to getting it replaced 3 months ago. So from $5400 to 11, 000 thanks to FJB. So between the insurance groups and anyone who does anything they request they are putting us out to pasture quick. I had to use all of my savings and borrow more to cover it and now they are going higher on my rates. What a bunch of crooks. They is legal theft, at least so far.

I've been telling y'all don't let the no state income tax fool you! All these folks coming here from California and NY thinking Florida is cheaper are in for a nasty surprise. Rents and property insurance are outrageous and most of the jobs are low paying service jobs because the economy is tourist based. Florida is good if you have that cut-throat hustler mentality but I would want to raise a family here. Even car insurance is getting pricey. And since everyone likes to sue, if someone doesn't work in the tourism industry then most likely they are a lawyer.

Do people not see through the inadequacies in Florida. The only thing Florida cares about is revenue for Florida. It is a very greedy, low paying self righteous region of the USA. Insurance is a massive business as are claims in Florida. Many of these claims of course are fraudulent. It's also a sue happy state. That's why it leads the nation in Lawyer commercials. Be it Home or Vehicle Insurance. Naturally the Insurance Company's want to recoup all this payout money by raising premiums. It doesn't surprise me Florida's Govt has dragged its feet on this subject. I seriously doubt they care because Florida's attitude is. We don't have to please residents because if they move out. There is always a long line of fools moving in to take their place. It really is sad Floridians sit back and don't demand better from their state. Really there is more to life than sunshine and no state income tax.

About damn time!!!! My Mother is currently dealing with buying a house and after closing being told the insurance companies will not write any policies and she's not a first time owner or ever had issues getting insurance. My next door neighbors just got a notice that their insurance won't be renewed and another person door the street is dealing with the same issue.

As a home owner in the Midwest I am tired of my insurance going up to pay for houses built on water front property that gets damaged every 7 to 10 years by hurricanes. You have way more and much wider spread of damaging storms there and should expect to pay more.

RE prices have gone sky high, but that doesn't help when it comes to one's disposable income. So there are a lot of wealthy people who are also broke. High claims costs and increased insurable values have driven rates up. The AOB's an PA's have to go. No more new roofs for an imaginary hail hit on one shingle.

I CALLED MANY FLORIDA LAWMAKERS myself on the other hot bed issue... Car Insurance. I wanted to propose a plan where for an insurer to be licensed in the state to provide personal auto (not commercial), it would be required to offer a state set rate, tied to a set percentage of the yearly poverty line threshold, at coverage of 25/50/50 with PIP and uninsured/underinsured motorist, to every owner that wants to buy it. The companies can still charge more for more coverage and will still be required to offer FL state minimum coverage, which is also only PIP and property damage, for less. Workers comp has a similar system and every company has the same rate in the state. It would make auto insurance affordable for everyone. Guess what? No politicians wanted to hear me out. No meetings. No phone call appointments. Nothing. If I could find someone to sponsor it, it might actually be signed into law. However, the insurance companies are so deep in the pockets, it would never happen. So many people are either driving around uninsured because they can't afford their insurance or committing fraud getting plates out of state where it is more affordable. There has to be a way to fix this.

Then there is a question of a 25% increase in homeowner taxes too since Dumbo dropped the ball of wax on Disney. I won't be voting for him in 2022 or 2024.
