We have taken a few "test" trips these last couple years, mainly to Spain and Portugal. we can attest to all of what you are saying. We see money as a tool to gain our freedoms and finance our trips not to acquire "things" we don't even bring back any souvenirs when we come back except for some candy to our grandchildren (which we buy last minute at the airports) You do have to get really good at logistics and weight management (luggage weight) you do quickly realize you don't need as much things as you think you do. We are planning on starting our full time nomad lifestyle in December next year at the age of 52. Cheers!

I think for me the hardest part is not having friends to call up and hang out with, and it is hard to make them when you are on the move, or at least to have consistency. The other things are annoying (packing up, moving etc.) but are secondary to the community aspect for me. Although the routine/exercise one is also difficult for sure!

Love this video. Funny, I was talking to my therapist this morning about how when I traveled recently we ran into a lot of challenges with the public transportation and we just laughed the experience off. But when we tell others the stories they act shocked that we laughed it off. My therapist was saying how we’ve built confidence and have a greater ability to adapt then most so they wouldn’t see the situation as easy or funny. You really do build confidence through travel. It’s a beautiful thing.

What a great video! My husband and I are traveling the world about 80% of the year but have kept our home base in NM, But it’s rented out while we travel helps pay for the travel!
I also manage our other 6 vacation rentals while on the road. (The idea of selling it all comes up a lot haha!) Cheers! 🍻

Thanks for another great video. There is one skill that is essential to living a successful nomadic lifestyle, and that is the ability to plan. Not only do you need to be good at it, but you need to enjoy planning your travels to sustain that lifestyle for longer than a few months. I think that is why so few couples adopt this lifestyle, because they lack the planning skills to pull it off.

You guys have inspired me so much. I'm been nomading for the past 3 months (and doing housesitting along the way), now I can't imagine going back home. Even the worst moments out here are still the best.

Great hearing a little about the Nomad lifestyle, so fun. We all need some “Character Building “ sometimes, lol. I laughed when I heard that because I say it all the time. Thanks, Brain and Carriee:).

More solid content from you guys. So much of travel is learning which is only beneficial if you're open to it. We've lived and traveled a fair amount abroad, so some things don't faze us but the slower, extended travel will be new when we start next month. Your point about community is spot on and one which people likely don't fully consider. Always happy to hear what you've learned - looking forward to sharing what we learn.

We are learning that, when staying in a place for a month, it can be as much fun and a learning experience to buy toiletries or groceries as to visit the highlighted tourist sites.

Hi guys, for me, that was one of your best videos. You did not pull any punches. A nomad lifestyle is not for everyone, and I can see how it would not work for me. I like to travel a lot but also appreciate having a home base. Next spring, my wife and I will have been living full-time in Spain for 15 years. We both like to travel, but it's always nice to get home. Your Spain videos were some of your earliest, and Brian is right that now you would have a completely different experience if you were to come back. Enjoy the holidays at home, and we look forward to Argentina next year. Great steaks and Malbec wine. How can you go wrong?

Carrie, I wanted to let you know that I purchased the Viori shampoo and conditioner to go to Spain last spring. Loved it and I use it at home too! Thanks!

Cheers to both! I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends! As December rolls in we get to thinking about holidays and parties. I hope you have some of those planned as well. I appreciate the refresher on a nomad. I am doubtful that I would be "working" as I travel. But I am all about "chasing experiences". I would rather have an experience rather than a good/product any day of the week! Safe travels!

Great video...again! I most miss my friends. I do a good job of setting aside time each week to text, sometimes call those with Whatsapp. I have to keep in mind that i am the one out of the country and out of the social circles. Hence, im desiring the need to make contact perhaps a little stronger than they are. Plus they are working and im.... slow traveling! I have more time to text.

Also i dont miss family drama now that im away. But i have to tattle on myself. Family drama pops up and resolves itself without me knowing it. But sometimes i miss being in the kool-aid and putting my two cents into it! I didnt realize that about myself until slow traveling.

It's funny you mention having to get used to shops being closed on Sundays, for example.

Many are too young to remember, but the US wasn't always an open 24/7 culture as well.

As a kid, I remember the only things that may have been open on Sundays were possibly gas stations and milk machines...

I've done the nomad life here in the US...unfortunately my employer doesn't allow me to work outside the US...working west coast hrs can be tough, no friends can be tough, but hey the other side, is I get to travel, work when I work, work in all situations (aka at coffee shops, hotel lobbies/rooms, on trains, etc). You have to accept the limitations of clothes and always planning food.
