However, don’t let it fool you. As much as it might seem the same, the 2024 Porsche Cayenne has a lot of changes under the skin. And the most notable change is in the technology and beneath the sport's utility. However, is it good enough to be better than its competitors?

And with that, let’s find out whether the 2024 Porsche Cayenne is better than its competitors.
The Porsche Cayenne is Porsche’s largest offering at the moment, and it wears a mid-size SUV body shape. It shares this segment with cars like the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class, Land Rover Range Rover Sport, Jaguar F-Pace, Audi Q8, and Genesis GV80. Now, all these are not small cars. They are all huge and amazing cars. But can the Porsche Cayenne actually have what it takes to beat all these cars?
There has been news of an all-electric Cayenne in the works, but it is scheduled for release sometime in 2026. This means that for now, we have to make do with the current generation for just a bit longer. However, it now has a refresh inside and out, giving us something to be excited about. And the most interesting thing about the current generation of Cayenne and Cayenne Coupe is the return of the V8 to the Cayenne S.
If we take a look under the hood of the Cayenne, we will find a variety of options. The very first one is a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that is capable of giving you 348 horsepower. There is also a plug-in hybrid, which is called the E-Hybrid, which combines an electric motor with a turbocharged V6 engine. This powertrain is capable of producing 463 horsepower, which is quite powerful. The Cayenne S will come with a twin-turbo V8 that can produce 468 horsepower.
One of its major competitors is the BMW X5, and this is clear right from the powertrains. The X5’s lowest offering is a turbocharged inline-six, which is capable of giving it about 375 horsepower. The BMW X5 also has a plug-in hybrid, which comes with a turbocharged inline-six coupled with an electric motor. And together, this combination gives it 483 horsepower. Lastly, the X5 also comes with a twin-turbo V8, which gives it about 523 horsepower. This literally pushes it from 0 to 60 in only 3.9 seconds. All the powertrains in the X5 are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and none of them leave the drivers wanting for power in any driving situation.
Let’s face it, the BMW X5 kind of has the upper hand when it comes to the powertrain. However, one of Cayenne's great competitors, the Mercedes-Benz GLE-class, is totally different. The lowest offering is a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, giving it 255 horsepower.
As far as powertrains go, the Porsche Cayenne and the BMW X5 are in a tight race.
One of the major changes to the 2024 Porsche Cayenne is in the interior.
If you look at some of its rivals, like the Audi Q7 and the Volvo XC90, they all have three rows, while the Porsche Cayenne comes with only two. However, Porsche has ensured that the rear seats are fully adjustable and provide a lot of stretch-out space. The Cayenne has enticed most Porsche enthusiasts with lots of passenger capacity and cargo volume, which is far better than any 911.
One of the largest changes for the 2024 Porsche Cayenne is the infotainment system.
The Cayenne’s competitors, such as the BMW X5, don’t really have this. For the X5, it comes with a curved wall of display screens that spans two-thirds of the dashboard.
Some of the other changes are on the exterior, but Porsche decided to make this facelift more evolutionary than revolutionary.
With all the technological changes that the 2024 Porsche Cayenne has, we can definitely say that it will have a better feel than its competitors. This, in general, makes it better than its competitors. What do you think?

The "most interesting thing" about the 2024 Cayenne make-over is a V8 in the Cayenne S (1:55)?! I don't think so. I would say that the 50-mile all-electric range of the E-Hybrid is a much bigger deal. That and the interior computer screens and change in the gear selector. I'd argue that the E-Hybrid is a much better deal than the S with a V8, in many respects; the S costs more, has less horsepower and torque, and gets much worse gas mileage.

I don't think adding a screen to the passengers' dash gives it a better infotainment system. The Taycans system wasn't better than the model S. BMWs screen carries more brightness, functionality, features, & a quicker chip.
