In this video, I install Bilstein B16 coilers on my BMW 340i. According to many reviews, these are one of the best options for the F30 platform.

A few tips if you plan to install them at home. Give yourself plenty of time. If it’s your first time installing suspension, it will take 6-8 hours. There are a few steps that will be much easier if you have a second person who can help. An impact wrench is a must have for this project. A penetrating oil like Liquid Wrench is your best friend for stubborn suspension bolts.

Tip: when you need a helping hand like when you were trying to get the new from strut in and lined up at the top, i place my jack with a block of wood on top under the suspension or under the brake rotor. Then I don’t have to deal with the weight. Align the top with one hand and slowly jack with the other to get it to go upwards while perfectly aligned.
If your arms aren’t long enough to reach both, then it’s also easier to call the wife or a little kid to slowly work the jack handle while you are aligning the top

Brought back some memories. For some reason, my E90 fought me hard as well when I had to change out all 4 leaky dampers. It is like what Justin said, little things here and there are making the whole project somewhat time consuming. For me, changing 4 dampers turned into a 10-hour job and very sore arms/back the next couple of days.

JUST SO YOU KNOW AT 9:49 remove the swaybar link bolt from the rear arm and that made it much easier to install this outer bolt because the tension was not there anymore.

Great video man! I picked up a Schwaben strut nut socket from turner and it made my coil over install so much easier and less sketch than using an impact driver.

Hey y’all. As a former f30 coilover installer I highly recommend taking this job to a pro. Its was a learning experience for me but it took FAR too long on this platform haha. I ended up spending more money on the actual tools and dedicated time than I would’ve if i just took it to a shop. Also, if you ever take it to a shop please make sure they have experience doing this! So much more I wanna say but im keeping it “short” for attention purposes 👍👍

1:00 the word is “damping”. Dampening means to make wet. Damping is when you reduce amplitude oscillations (vibration).
