Whenever people find out I'm vegan, one of the first questions is always, 'What kind of stuff do you eat then?" In this video I want to answer that question. I wanted to make this video to give you some ideas on what you could keep stocked in your kitchen if you want to start eating more plant based! Hopefully it's helpful. Let me know in the comments down below! Also, what did you think of my first little mini skit? Would you like to see more?

I tell people I graze on the front lawn and fly south for the winter.

Been a meat eater all my life and former hobby power lifter. Developed terrible inflammation in my left peroneal tendon (left outer ankle). Gave up power lifting because of it so that I could heal. During the healing process I took to eating dangerously high amounts of sugar and lost a lot of muscle mass as a result. Transitioned to a ketogenic diet and despite the claims of subsiding hunger and cravings, I was always hungry and craving even when I followed an I.F. regiment. I then transitioned to a carnivore diet in attempts to curve hunger and reduce risk for inflammation in my ankle. My body was absolutely unable to digest meat without fiber and B.M.s became literally painful. I am now transitioning to a vegetarian protocol (willing to eventually go full on vegan). On my very first day on a vegetarian protocol my hunger subsided completely and it felt controlled. No sugar craving and no pain in my ankle as of 2 weeks in.

I'm practically in tears with relief with all the help your videos have given me. I've gone too fast being vegan and have to back track and work into it slower for my lifestyle, and it felt like an overwhelming task all over again, but you make it so much more doable. You're inspiring Dude, thanks a ton

Always helpful to get another vegan’s tips for pantry staples, getting some good ideas…WFPB veganism is so cheap, varied, filling, and nutrient rich, loving it!!💚💚💚💚💚

HEY DEREK! Could you please make a video like "best foods for each vitamin/protein/iron etc"? For example you talk about protein and name the foods with the higher amounts of protein and the best way to eat or cook them. Your videos are awesome!

Vegan family of 8 here and we just went through 2 boxes of bananas in a month so I totally get you there! We are gradually getting to more of a whole food diet and cutting out the processed food more each month. Thanks for making great content to keep us inspired and entertained too 😁

Hemp seeds (I add them to smoothies and oatmeal), chia seeds (smoothies and salads), ground coriander, coriander seeds, garam masala and chic peas, sourdough bread and sauerkraut. Some of my favorite staples!

Is have been sharing this video on my beginners plant based FB page with everyone. I am obsessed with your knowledge. I am just starting and have already learned so much more about foods. I’m already a cook so meal prep is just different now. Wanted to thank you I have tried to listen to others on YouTube and always come back to your videos. Obsessed with this station.

Thanks for the great vid!

Nuts stay fresh longer in fridge or freezer 😁

'Room temperature is fine if you plan to use the nuts within 2-4 months. If you'd like them to keep longer, refrigerate or freeze the jars.'

Just thought I'd share if someone didn't know 😁

Awesome vid, really enjoyed the added comedy 'skits' in it! Makes it a lot of fun to watch :D

p.s, almost a month of being vegan now, watching your videos made me make the change but more importantly taught me how to do it right, so thank you!

I also feel inspired and want to cook when I have lots of veggies in my fridge. A lot of times I don’t want to go out to eat, because I know it won’t be as tasty as when I cook meals. 😊

Over the years I have gone from omnivore to Vegetarian, and am now on a Vegan Journey. I live alone and find it hard to eat up my good fresh foods before they go bad at the end. Also, I’m not a regular eater. I’ve had depression since I was a teen and am now 62. I think I just need to get better organized. And....since I have been watching you getting organized is getting easier. Plus you are funny as heck! I enjoy the channel.

Hi Derek, great video. Storage tip for parsley, cilantro: cut half an inch or so off the bottom of the bunch and stand it up in a glass with an inch of water in it, refrigerate. Change the water every few days, it will last a week or more.
