6 Weird Things Americans Do (What Do the French Think About America)

Today I'm going to talk about the top weird things Americans do that seem really strange to Europeans. These are things that I encountered while living abroad in the the US for about 5 years. These things are odd to me because I was born and raised in France where these things do not exist or not as much. I love America and I think it is really interesting to see the different culture differences between both France and the US: comparing cultures is a fun part of travelling.

I'm am American and I'm totally uncomfortable with that public bathroom situation. It's absurd.

The American Breakfast is from when families were farmers. Often the men had to have a big hearty breakfast to work the fields, lots of labor involved. It just passed down the generations. Americans love cold drinks. How many Europeans drink ice tea? In the southern states it often comes with the lunch meal.

If you live in the South you get somewhat used to salty breakfast foods for breakfast as you sweat in the heat. Your body loses sodium (salt) and craves to replace it.

Walking with a cup of joe or chowing down breakfast/food while walking is the norm here. We don't have time to sit down and relax. Hey don't talk bad about PB&J LOL! j/k.

I suspect they have a gap in the bathroom stalls to see if someone died in the stall, catch shoplifters and to make it easier to sweep and mop.
