Acting the way he did prior to the Nordic countries' NATO applications, Erdogan has shown that he is utterly unreliable!
During the period before the application, Erdogan was repeatedly asked about his position on these applications by among others the President of Finland, Swedish officials and the Secretary General of NATO, among others.
He kept answering that he saw no obstacles to this on the part of Turkey.
Once Finland's and Sweden's applications have been submitted, there are suddenly all sorts of serious but baseless objections.
Erdogan apparently set a trap for the candidate countries. These have now ended up in a very dangerous situation, which Erdogan intends to use to his advantage
A person with such an extremely lack of morals will never be trusted and definitely does not belong in any western co-operative organization!
Will any other country dare to apply for membership in the future when despite all positive promises your application gets denied and gives your adversary a free card to invade?

Thanks Canada! 🇨🇦
It's good to hear some rational news and while ambassadors have to be discreet, it was still an insightful interview.
In Europe we tend to forget the Arctic flank and the long term interests and potential for Russian "miscalculations".

Finland and Sweden should be allowed into NATO, before the end of this year. Maybe even no later then the NATO summit in Madrid, at the end of next month. I hope Turkey sees the sense in letting the two nordic countries in. Love too all 30 members of NATO, as well as Finland and Sweden, from UK.

THE PRACTICAL SOLUTION; Partition Syria. With 25-35 Million Kurds, establish Kurd state in North Kurdish-Syria!

Turkey does not want to discuss with Sweden or Finland they want to discuss with US and they will delay the application as long as it takes before that happens. The Finnish delegations meeting with the turks was only to clarify what they even want as they seem not sure even about that yet.

I reckon the resistance from Turkey is not so much toward NATO membership of Finland and Sweden. Our legislation is pretty much on par with everyone else. I think they want something else. Acceptance from the United States of America? Not sure though.

Weird stuff. Well, beats me anyway. I do not know what they want.

I think a new alliance of Baltic Sea countries would be a great idea, even if Sweden and Finland not in NATO. Then, Baltic Sea becomes a NATO lake and Putin has way more headaches. Bonus: Erdogan can get stuffed!

These two are talking about diplomatic off ramps that Russia isn't taking. Then go on to talk about escalating tensions by accepting two more border countries into NATO. The point is we are just as guilty of not taking off ramps as the Russians are.
I'm also really confused because didn't the UK just say with the last round of negotiations they and NATO wouldn't accept a deal between Russia and the Ukraine? The most united we have ever been 😆.
