J.K. Rowling's Biggest Regrets About Harry Potter

Plenty of writers will read their published book and wish they had done a few things differently, like J.K. Rowling, who has been quite open about the regrets she has about the Harry Potter series.

There are a few tragic character deaths that she wishes she had done better or not at all, and she also agrees with the critics who say the series needed more diversity.

We all hated the fact that she killed many of the characters, (Fred, Snape Etc.) but can we appreciate that she did? What kind of battle would it be if everyone magically survived? If they all survived, there would be no emotion. It also highlights how brutal the Battle of Hogwarts was. Hate me all you want, but I’m just proving a point.

Why doesn’t anyone talk about Hedwigs death? It was so glossed over. That one hit me the hardest because she was just left, dead, somewhere and no one even cared 😭

Ron isn’t a goofy sidekick, he is very complex and represents a part of Harry’s mental state. Hermione is Harry’s down to earth and thinking side, whilst Ron is Harry’s impulsive and primal side. The films real ruined rons character, read the books again, and then form your opinion on the character.

in the books, Hermione and harry had no romantic chemistry, unlike the movies, they kinda shipped them, and knowing j.k.r she probably changed her mind seeing how the movies were received

I think Fred's death hurt us also because Fred and George were such a duo, it's half the fun without them. Of course losing the character is heart breaking-losing Sirius and Snape and Dumbledore was sad, and Dobby.

The movies turned Ron into the “goofy sidekick.” I swear in the books he is a lot more useful and got the street smarts about the wizarding world that Harry and Hermione lacked. I also feel the movies make Hermione out to be this perfect character when in the books she is actually quite annoying and uptight, Ron kinda balances her out.

I think I'm one of the few who agrees with that Snape had to die, even though he was one of my personal favourite characters as well. It is in my opinion the most befitting ending for such a heroic yet tragic character.
