Paul McCartney and John Lennon - Too Many People

The song is an instance of musical sniping among the four Beatles after the band broke up, the target in this case presumed to be McCartney's former bandmate and songwriting partner John Lennon. "[John had] been doing a lot of preaching, and it got up my nose a little bit," said McCartney in a 1984 interview with Playboy. "I wrote, 'Too many people preaching practices,' I think is the line. I mean, that was a little dig at John and Yoko...there was 'You took your lucky break and broke it in two.

if anyone is really paying attention, Stevie is really playing right-handed but the video is edited to show a mirror image, as evidenced by the Yamaha guitar's logo being backwards. Stevie is a real genius!!!

Love how John shakes his head at 0:38 as if to say, "Now you see what I've had to deal with..."

From an internal perspective that was how John saw it - he was the leader. I wouldn't say John was self-absorbed or egotistical (even Paul says he wasn't). John was an extremely insecure and he put on a brave face and spoke with a lot of bravado to hide that insecurity. His Beatles and solo era songs all showed a deep insecurity and loss of self. He had a huge chip on his shoulder to prove to people he was strong and didn't need people because of the abandonment and then death of his Mother.

Actually George has another great album "Cloud Nine" in 1987 which had the hits "Got my mind set on you" and "When we were fab" and his John Lennon tribute song "All Those Years Ago" in 1981 off "Somewhere in England"

Oh my god, you guys.  This is so funny I can't even laugh hard enough.  This is absolutely hysterically funny.  I do fake Beatles interviews on audio all the time to amuse me and my silly friends (I include myself in the category of silly as well), and this is right up my alley.  Great, fantastic job all around.  Hilarious!

actually, history tells a slightly different story. The main reason George didn't have more songs on the albums was (in George's own words) "I was quite lazy and really didn't write much anyway in those early days". And in George Martin's own words "George simply hadn't grown as a songwriter as the other two had and what was important in the end was putting the best songs on the albums."

George really didn't start to blossom as a writer until 'Revolver'.

Actually Paul didn't try to lead the group until late '67 after Brian Epstein died so really it was from Magical Mystery Tour to Let It Be and that was in my opinion the downward spiral of the band. They pulled it back together for Abbey Road. What most people don't understand is that although Abbey Road came out before Let It Be, it was recorded after. Let It Be was recorded just after the White Album sessions but it was in limbo due to Phil Spector until 1970.
