I VASTLY prefer this version! Man I would have killed for a studio version. The stripped down and defeated sound adds to the theme of the song. It’s more melodic as well.

i read that peter jackson showed that clip to paul who realized "oh shit, i forgot about that" and it was revealed that he did write but he says "i'll take a little credit" while acknowledging that it's still john's song. i think from now on, john lennon remains the sole writer but with the note "additional lyrics/music by paul mccartney".
