Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero - THE Review

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero lands in the West TOMORROW. However, they had a screening in the UK on the 17th! Here is my combined spoiler and non-spoiler review of the DBS Super Hero movie. This movie was probably the most ambitious and daring Dragon Ball anime film in a long time...and nobody knows it's out. Today I tell you about my thoughts, my nephews' thoughts and why you should go and see it in the cinema!

It's time for my ultimate review of the movie, now having seen it in cinemas. Is it worth seeing there? YES. Spoiler review starts at 8:11

I kinda love how Bulma basically went mad with power. This is the same woman who was gonna wish for strawberries in the original after all.

And Piccolo's frustration with Bulma was really funny, you can tell that was his Kami side speaking.

Of all things I didn’t know I wanted, “Cell and Piccolo having a Kaiju battle” was something I never would have expected... I loved this movie so much. Also, I think Beerus recognizing Cheelai as an attractive woman AFTER and only after she shows fear and respect of him was perfect, poor Beerus hasn’t been seen like that ever since he started hanging around the dragon team, so good for him, the little “I like this one” was so telling of that

Gamma 2 literally became one of my very favorite characters in dragonball just with this short time on screen. Seriously that's impressive that gamma 2 made such an impact on so many people for being in a movie only.

Pan and Piccolo's relationship was just the best!! I really, REALLY want to see more Pan going forward, she could be a great launch point for the series to be based around.

I really like how Superhero handled power scaling with an enemy that while is powerful, is only a truly fearsome foe to those available to fight it. I also love how it was a group effort and we saw everyone contributing rather than some "my pride as a fighter says I have to fight alone" bs. I also noticed how they mention Goten and Trunks growth spurt and how it actually makes sense thinking back on it with the other saiyans.

I really liked how 18 was still traumitized by 2nd form Cell and Krillin being able to save her this time with the same move that Cell used to absorb 18.

The sequence of everyone almost dying, Krillin yelling "YOU IDIOT' Whilst chasing after Gotenks and then ending with Gohans transformation.

Even though everything was spoilt because of how dumb the internet is. I had a really good time watching it.

Gohan performing the Makankosapo got me emotional. It just shows how important Piccolo is to him and always views him as a second dad.

This was over all the funniest Dragon Ball has ever been as well. Jokes like when they're talking in the car and as the scene builds to a climax with the agreeing to work together the driver turns on the radio and then slowly turns it up for dramatic effect. Also when Commander Magenta pulls a senator Armstrong had me rolling

The Piccolo and Pan moments were just too good.

Piccolo holding the phone like an old grandpa every time when he talks on the cell phone.

Him being the smart one and saying maybe I should go in disguise and check out what's going on instead of you know.. goku just running in and blowing everything up.

I saw this in IMAX and I loved it! The Gammas are amazing, the CG was great, and the colors left my jaw on the floor. Seeing Gohan and Piccolo standing together at the end in their new super forms while Pan was running towards Gohan almost brought a tear to my eye.

Anyone who loves DB needs to see this movie!

Great reviews. Honestly agree, this movie was a great breath of fresh air for DBS. It's like a perfect combo of DB & DBZ I was able to just enjoy it and the animation was top notch I loved it. From this point forward if they did this for the series or movies I'd be 100% fine with.

Also the dubbed throw in so many nods to so many things. One being the Senzu Bean has to be similar to TFS, but it's Piccolo shouting "Senzu Bean" and throwing it at Gohan.

Regardless it stands on it's own and it's just as good as Broly for what it brings to the table and future of the series.

Very nice. I think having someone like Pan acting as a catalyst for the action is awesome, both for involving children and tying in nicely to how Gohan starts. Same with the Nephew.

The lore is certainly getting to 40k levels of exposition. XD

The one thing I would say, is this movie is good *despite* Gohan, but I gotta say they presented it in a pretty engaging format. Definitely agree that the rest of the cast more then makes up for it.
