PS4 controller USB-C V3 | Mounting guide | #10

Mounting guide video for my custom circuit board enabling USB-C in the PS4 controller. This version is for the JDS30, JDS40, JDS50 and JDS55 controller. The board in the video is made for JDS50/55. If you have a JDS30 or JDS40 controller, the only difference is that the inside is mirrored.

Small tip for anyone who has issues which you've pointed out with the ribbon. If the gold tabs are starting to come off the ribbon you can cut the ribbon back a little bit with scissors, keeping the stiff part of the ribbon of course. I've had to do it on 2 of my controllers because I can't help but keep taking them apart.

For years I've been sick and tired of my Dualshock 4's micro USB port being so damn loose. I've tried replacing the port multiple times, I've tried replacing the controller outright, I've even bought a 3D printed little attachment that's supposed to keep it in place, and it always failed eventually. I was thinking of getting a Dualsense and take my chances with potential drifting, but at long last, I have the permanent solution for the controller I already have. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much! There isn’t really any detailed explanation on the carving plastic part available anywhere. Now I can complete my project with confidence. I may get another controller just to do this again.

Wonderful! Shipping was really fast (although maybe expected since it was sent to Sweden), and the parts along with this tutorial made it a simple task to swap (I ordered the longer cord as well). I used a Dremel and a after a bit of back and forth the hole was snug fit. I had to do a little bit of grinding on the top of the outside as well (as you mention in the clip) since otherwise the top part of the usb port was a bit squeezed when tightened the screw. Otherwise, really simple and the kids are happy again not having to charge the controller by holding the usb micro cable by hand and wiggling it as it loses contact.

As soon as your next stock comes in I'll take 2 please!. I just had my PS4 controller fail last night, and I was trying to figure out if I could swap it out for a USB-C port instead, because I have always loathed the stupid micro USB ports!, they are garbage!. I was going to get a PCB made and solder and build one myself, but then I found this in my searches, PRAYERS ANSWERED!. This saves me a lot of work, it's a no brainer!. Can't wait to order and get playing again!. I may be 44 but I love my games! and I just bought God of war Ragnarok and it's on the way in the mail, and I won't be able to play it until I get this inferior controller port fixed!. I can't wait till there is more in stock!. I am SOLD SOLD SOLD on this product!. You beat me to the idea! Well done sir!. Everything should be USB-C in my opinion. If you make a JDS-011 board, I will probably order yours for my next two controller upgrades. All three of my PS4 controllers have JDS-011 boards.

I used a USB-C board from a different designer/seller which works, but they didn't get the hole placement correct on their PCB and I had to snip and file down the two plastic pins that would have gone through the lower holes.

You have great attention to detail and your boards look gorgeous. Hope to see the JDS-011s on your site someday!

Thanks for this tutorial! I haven't even had my controller for a year, but I can tell the micro-USB port is already showing signs of wear since it can intermittently cut out. Fortunately I have one of the JDS-05x boards so you can bet I'll be ordering one.
