Discovery Channel Plane Crash Abandoned in Mexico | Destination Adventure.

If you're taking highway 5 from Mexicali to San Felipe, surely you will notice the wreckage of this Boeing 727 sitting just off of the highway. This is quite an interesting plane wreck, because it was intentionally crashed in the Mexico desert by a group of media companies and scientists, to study the effects of a jetliner crash. Funny enough, the plane its self has a pretty fun history, as it was Bob Dole's presidential campaign jet. The experiment took place in Mexico, because the USA Government wouldn't allow it to happen on American soil, but a complete clean up of the crash was done, and the location brought back to original condition.
Where the plane sits now is all fenced off, but locals have cut the fence to gain access, and a select few now call it home. When I arrived I thought I would have to film with the drone, but 40 pesos bought me access into the gate for a closer look. The inside of the aircraft has very much become home to some down on luck residents, so I didn't go inside the plane, but I got to get right up close for a good look and some good shots. I am really happy I had the time to stop and check this spot out, and share it with all of you.
If you want to see more of this story, the complete documentary is on YouTube, and the crash was featured on a Discovery Channel show called Curiosities.

Hey congrats on the 100K. Silver PLAY button! Always like when I sub early and get quality confirmation later. Looking forward to more Baja finds.

I flew down to Mexicali and pick up some spare parts off that carcass to keep some southwest planes flying. Anything to save a dollar. That was a well spend 40 pesos or 2 dollars.

That valve you weren't sure what it was for is where you service the Lavs (Lavoratory) You are lucky its empty or you would have been covered in Blue goo. Spent 5 years in Westjet pits myself. lol :)

Great video Dustin, and cool footage of the crash video.
The valve you tried closing on the left side of the fuselage...is the 'HoneyWaggon' hookup. You were playing with the poop valve. LOL

I admire your courage to step into uncertain areas. Thank you. That was interesting. I do not fly very often.

That last cap you were trying to close, I believe is for toliets, that's the dump and where you add the blue fluid.

My mom use to be an agent for (now gone) Northwest Travel in North Vancouver. I got to fly alot, almost always in the tail of the plane.. I'm glad to know that I would have walked away from a crash..

You should do a little bit of investigation into a plane crash on Charleston Mountain just outside of Vegas a few years ago apparently there was still some pieces and parts up there and if you happen to find a set of keys let me know my friend lost her keys up there while she was hiking
