This is a 100% true story. I read the book a decade ago. It's crazy to see this as a Netflix film now. I can't recommend the book enough.

My science teacher is obsessed with William Kamkwamba. When I told him they made a movie and it recently came out, he started crying and demanded we watch during class.

I was eating while watching this. Made me cry knowing I have a fridge full of food and they were eating 1 meal per day. Makes you feel the pain

"When I cut off my own arm to feed you, then you will know you are my child" - Never cried as quickly in a movie as I did during this scene

People want to talk about how some parts of Africa are poor, failing to acknowledge the colonizers who have stripped the continent of resources for centuries. And continue to do so to this day.

the boy's story is a story of courage and heroism. the film is not about poverty or sadness... its a celebration of innovation, hope and perseverance. This is not just a story of Africa, but I think everyone around the world can relate to the message of the movie. The true story of the boy is so inspiring. I love the acting and the filmography too. A must watch.

This makes me so happy! I was born, raised in and have never left America but my parents are Gambian. Seeing a movie like this on the big screen makes me so happy to see African people being represented. And on top of that, an African inventor too. MashaAllah 🇬🇲❤️

ABSOLUTELY INSPIRING. This is why its so heartbreaking when people don't want to give you a chance to study and implement when you know you have so much more to offer
