It's worth reiterating that the AMD version does not have an HDMI port and USB4 ports. That might be a dealbreaker for some.

The AMD Slim 7 Pro has been on sale at Costco for I want to say $1100 or $1200, which I think makes it an even better value. I'm honestly surprised that the Ryzen model wasn't significantly farther ahead in battery life.

Actually surprised that Intel performed as it did vs AMD. Was expecting the Ryzen model to be miles ahead. One annoying thing about the AMD version is that it (bizarrely) does NOT have the HDMI port, which the Intel version does! The AMD version instead has an additional USB-A. I've not seen the AMD and Intel versions of the same laptop have different ports before (notwithstanding USB-C vs Thunderbolt) and the HDMI is a lot more useful than a second USB-A.

I got the R7 6800HS version, it was a little bit more expensive i'd like but it's running cool and quiet and will be enough for what i bought it for. Happy with it so far. Need to run those benchmarks tho, to see if HW is all good.

Great review as usual Josh. I have the 6800HS version. Massive discounts on these in the UK recently. Got mine for £1100 with student discount. Lenovo screwed up thermal paste application out of the box so it was hitting 100C and throttling. After I fixed that, it runs great and if you stick it in iGPU mode, battery life is great and almost no fan noise in normal office tasks. Great laptop

I am surprised AMD and Intel differences weren't that huge however if you take into account the cost then its clear that AMD takes the win.

If you guys are having issues with random AMD laptop lockups, try replacing the stock Wi-Fi card with an Intel one if it isn't already one. It fixed my Legion 7.

Hi Josh,

thanks for briefly getting into the integrated graphics, as I believe we are finally at the point where they are actually usable for 3D gaming.
This is a huge win for netbooks, as a power-hungry dedicated GPU in my opinion has no place in a device that minimizes power consumption and offers limited thermal headroom.

I would be very interested in a direct comparison of the RTX 3050 with the integrated RDNA2 680M graphics of the Ryzen chip. Yes, the dGPU still wins in raw performance, but the 3050 actually doesn't do well in gaming benchmarks, so the gap should not be huge.
The really interesting tests would then be performance vs. power draw and fan noise, as I believe the tradeoffs in this regard do not work in thee 3050's favor. There are good reasons why other devices that have to strike a similar balance, such as the Steam Deck and PS5, all go for AMD's RDNA architecture.

It is a damn shame that Lenovo refuses to sell the Slim 7 Pro / Pro X with 32GB of RAM without the 3050, as I believe this would be a great configuration for many use cases. 32GB GDDR5 would allow the iGPU to "borrow" up to 8GB as VRAM (twice as much as the 3050 offers) without concern for available memory. But at least you have the perfect device to run these tests on.

I have the same problem with my Intel version of the slim 7 pro x.
Fans already kick in when starting windows (loud), make 1-2 minutes noise and then remain silent (off) in web browsing tasks. But when watching 1080p videos they kick in every 2-3 minutes and then they aren’t silent like you’d expect but loud.
It seems that there is no „silent fan mode“. My previous Acer Swift was silent and when the fans went on during low demanding tasks they were barely noticeable.

Got the Slim 7 Pro X (AMD) for 1050€ in a flashsale on Lenovo. With 3K 120hz display its quite a nice bargain if you ask me.

Thanks Josh, once again great presentation and to the point and perfect and honest. Also you cover my interested and important area of temperature, fan noise etc.

Josh, please review the Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED (2022) as a viable windows option for the M2 MacBook Air. Thanks

The model with 16 gigs of ram and ryzen 7 is now on sale at best buy for $799 USD, making it an amazing value.

Fan noise seems to be a big problem for the 12th gen Intel.
I‘m still looking for a silent 14 inch laptop below 1000$ with a good but non-glare display and 16GB RAM ☹️

Hey josh, I'm a student and looking for a laptop with great battery life that can do a little bit of gaming (lol, csgo, overwatch). What do you think about zenbook s13 R6800?

Thanks, great video. The intel version is on sale and now cheaper than the amd here in Sweden, I never do heavy tasks for a longer period of time anyway, but I benefit from a snappy processor in shorts bursts, for running code and such. Also, I think the intel version might work better with ubuntu which i often choose over windows.
I've considered the legion slim 7i as well, but i prefer the 14 inch models.
Great channel, your reviews makes me a more informed buyer.
Thanks!

Great videos! I found your channel and I love it.

I wanted Macbook Air M1, however it was still 950 pounds. So I’ve just bought 2022 Yoga Slim 7 13.3 inch - AMD 5800u, 2.5K IPS display, thunderbolt ports. I paid only 600 pounds. Bargain! Very good quality laptop. Itunes and Icloud are working not bad on Windows laptop to sync with my Iphone 13P. That was my best buy this year. I would love to see review on your channel.

I am thinking of buying this Yoga slim 7 PRO AMD 5 660HS. As you say in your video, I have found several comments onthe internet talking about the noise that the fans make, apparently, several users report that the fans turn on constantly in light tasks such as browsing the internet, mail or even at rest, making a rather unpleasant noise when turning the fans at full speed. Has this been your same experience? is it a problem like they say or in light tasks such as email, internet or youtube the computer does not make noise?

I would appreciate your recommendations to make the final decision.

Thanks
