I feel like we've woken up from a bad dream and it's so awesome to see these videos again!!! I can actually recommend friends builds again. Feels so good!

This is very similar to my pc except for the GPU which is a 6700xt as I play at 1440p. I love your videos and the reviews of the B660 motherboards were very helpful in making my decision for my own build. Keep up the great work!

Sweet build! Value for money parts + performance is why pc building is so fun!

Seeing a realistically budget-minded build vod like this after the last two years is a real treat

I recently built a new system for a friend, loosely based on your recommendations. We went the 12400F CPU with a Z690 Aorus Pro AX (Z690 specifically for the extra usb ports as we run a racing sim off this machine with a lot of usb inputs), 32GB CL16 3200mhz ram (all 4 slots purely for aesthetics) and a Red Devil 6700XT for running VR and 1440p resolution. All in a Corsair 4000D case with RGB everything lol. We paired it up with a Gigabyte G34WQC and so far its been a killer quiet machine that handles everything the owner throws at it without breaking a sweat. He loves it!
Thankyou for the many years of reviews and testing. Your hard work really does make a difference! I or anyone i know is yet to regret buying anything you guys have recommended.

Yes, please and yes, please. That's what I was waiting for. Thank you for coming up with this new series of videos - looking forward to :)

Good timing - I'm doing a 12400 build on the same motherboard tomorrow for my mum's new PC. The video is good but I wish you'd shown the cable and jumper installation - plugging in the various jumper cables can be one of the trickiest parts of an installation.

Sad that "budget" is $1000 now. 😔

Nice build but I always suggest getting an intel cpu with integrated graphics for a few dollars more, in this case the 12-400. Integrated graphics can be worth their weight in gold for trouble shooting or when your video card dies, you can keep using your computer.

Finally a budget build where someone isn't using overprices old Nvidia cards and using the 6600. I don't get YouTubers now a days why are you recommending a 1660 Super or 2060 when the 6600 is more powerful and around the same price. Smh

for anyone interested in the 12400f and located in the US the price difference between it and the 12400 is ~$8 so please for the love of pc gaming go with the regular 12400 since the iGPU can save you if/once your GPU breaks (happened to me with a 3700x, not fun having a huge paperweight)

To anyone looking at a Mech 6600: MSI's VBIOS on this card tunes it for ultra-efficiency, locking the power limit at 100W. This means the card is going to stay very cool from the mass of the heatsink alone, but the default fan curve can still get those fans quite loud at 100% usage. I recommend setting the curve to the lowest fan speed possible until 65 degrees, at which point I'd set the PWM no higher than 30%. My card has yet to go over 55 degrees with an even less "aggressive" curve than that in a Phanteks P300A with fully populated fans.

In my 3rd world country the 5600x with a B550M TUF motherboard costs the same as a 12400f + ASUS PRIME B660M-A D4 (both combos around 620USD while minimum wage is 139$ :D)

Big fan of my 6600s, they sip power and have amazingly quiet cooling as a result

I find it odd that it is unmentioned that the RM750x actually has some of the best ripple and transient handling (i.e. Power Quality) available for a decent price, very strong PSUs which spend more on power quality, than PSU efficiency. :- )

For bugdet systems I would definitely recommend using scythe fuma 2 as the cooler. It is quite cheap, doesn't make any noise, and capable of cooling low-mid systems without any problems.

Just built something extremely similar last week, but with RTX 3060 as my workload can benefit from 12 GB VRAM and CUDA, anyway, 12400F is surprisingly powerful, even MSFS 2020 performed admirably, provided that you give it a bit of time to stream those asset from internet. I cheaped out of PSU and case a bit tho, got a TUF gaming 550W with silverstone PS15-W due to massive discount. That being said, cheapest 6600 is about $45 dollar cheaper in my local market, $45 dollar for 4GB VRAM, DLSS and occasional RT doesn't sounds that bad.

Great to see that you’re doing budget builds again. I’m a viewer from Melbourne and was just wondering if you could include more local Australian pricing in your videos? It would greatly help for those watching from here in Australia.
