If Anthony Newley had sung the theme song for Goldfinger

Показать описание
The song was written by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley. Tony did record a demo of it, but here is how it might have sounded if Tony had sung it at the recording session.
Technical notes:
This is deliberately low-fi as the Newley demo is quite poor quality. Newley was singing a semitone higher than Bassey. As the backing came from an LP running at slightly the wrong speed the gap between the two keys was closer to a quarter tone, so I balanced the pitch correction between the two tracks while keeping the original length. The tempo of the two recordings was so close that with Newleys delivery it was not necessary to change the tempo of the vocal track.
Then I had to make some minor modifications to the vocal timings to fit the orchestration, but I kept with the same rubato style. The last note in the vocal needed to be extended. It is 98% exactly as the original demo though.
Then I processed the vocal to give it more presence.
The backing was duplicated, with the duplicate getting a bass boost and made wider stereo. The vocal track was duplicated and one version slightly widened to help fit it to the stereo backing. Then it was given a 60s EQ and sensibility like the Tom Jones Thunderball.
