"I can live without you, but I don't want to". That is what a healthy relationship is supposed to be about. If you can't live without someone, you should consider going to therapy and working on some issues, so you can have a healthier relationship with yourself and the person you love.
Also, it's so nice to see Meredith's development, on the episode of the shooting there's a scene with her saying "I can't live without you". And now, even though it would make sense if she felt like she couldn't live without since they have kids and it would be difficult for her to raise them alone, she has matured enough to realize that she actually can live without him, but loving someone is not wanting to live without them.

It’s the fact that not even a few episodes before he died, Derek said “I can’t live without you” and Mer replied “I can live without you, but I don’t want to, I don’t ever want to”… they just didn’t know how true this was yet :(
