Search for missing teenager Jay Slater in Tenerife called off by police

Police in Tenerife say they’ve called off the search for missing British 19-year-old Jay Slater who went missing on June 17.

Why call of a search they could just scale it down or ask the family to foot the bill, they'd surely raise the funds through go fund me or something, makes no sense to give up on some one he might be stuck somewhere waiting for help to arrive.
