PD Simplified | Fuel Octane : What Should You Use?

preview_player
Показать описание
Petrol comes in various octane ratings. Regular petrol is Octane 91, but there are more expensive blends that can be Octane 95, 97, or even 100. However, the higher the octane count, the more expensive petrol gets. So which one do you really need? The answer lies, not in this video, but in your vehicle’s user manual. Be sure to check it to see what octane rating your vehicle needs. Most vehicles sold in India will run just fine on regular pump gas. However, if you have a car/bike with a high compression ratio, it could benefit from an octane rich petrol. In this episode, Shumi simplifies fuel octane ratings and which one should you really use.

Hey #PDArmy, what octane petrol do you put in your cars/bikes? Tell us down below, and give the video a thumbs up if this helped you understand octane ratings.

There's XP 95(95 octane) from Indian oil which is 4 rupees extra than the normal fuel. Anyday better than shell VPower!

Damn you guys. You guys are really really adding value to the Indian automotive industry and its very very appreciable. I've always been a fan of PD but the amount of knowledge that I'm getting through this series was hard to digest before through some outside auto channels. You guys made is so simple and accessible. I love you guys for this.

Would also recommend such simplified episodes only for cars.

Thanks a lot for doing what you're doing. ❤️

It's almost 5 years now that i have put only premium fuel into my NS200(11:1). And i always felt that the bike runs smoother except for couple times that i have been forced to put normal fuel because of unavailability. I don't know whether it actually runs smoother or its just a Placebo effect 😅
Anyways premium fuel is just 3rs more per litre so, and the exhaust note changes with the fuel too 😊

Started using Indian Oil Xtra Premium as regular fuel...

I have always noted Shell regular is better than regulars of BP, IOCL, HP etc. Somewhere I read HP, BPCL and IOCL regular base fuels are rated at 87 to 89 whereas Shell regular is at 91. Happy to get corrected if not.

A request to PD Team. Please make a Simplified video on the riding gear available, what points to consider while buying one as per the needs (i.e someone who needs it for casual riding vs someone who rides frequently vs those who wants to take it out on a race track). It would be really helpful. Hope you guys take note of this request! 👀

Hey PD, can you make a video on aftermarket air filters like K&N or BMC is worth it on motorcycles ?
Will the extra air improve engine smoothness or will the extra dust entering the engine cause more issues ?

After using normal petrol for 7000km on the gixxer 250

I have finally switched to Speed / Power (+3rs/litre) petrol and the only difference i can feel is slightly better low end torque in city usage and lower jerking during on/off throttle

If cleaner engine is the benefit then, one should select power or xtra premium fuel instead of power99 or xp95, it has additives to clear the combustion reseduies...

Dominar’s compression ration is 12:1. So as per the chart I should use minimum 100 octane fuel, right ?

During your TWO schools days, do you use regular 91 octane for your R6 or Tuono or something else?

This video is very good from a technical point, and thanks PD. But ……. where is the Octane rating OFFICIALLY stated. Even in XP95, what is the rating? Is it RON or MON or AKI? Request if anyone can please state what it is?

Hey guys! First of all, thanks for helping me with my assignment on the vehicle Scrappage policy lol... This series is damn good and you guys really have simplified things for all petrolheads! Could you also cover bolt-on turbos, engine swaps and repainting of cars in terms of reliability and legality respectively?
Keep up the great work! Thanks again 😁
