Any time I have gossip this ensues and then I hit them with the “Hey, be happy I knew anything at all”

It's just a difference in empathy response. On average, men are taught to confront issues with actionable items. All we need to know is "what is happening, what should be happening, how can we help". The rest is extraneous information unless it helps solve the issue. On average, women are taught to be supportive. You are confronted with an issue and want to gather details, relate, connect emotionally, etc. That's not saying you don't solve problems, because you do, it's just that you take a more therapy like approach. And that's not to say men don't care or are cold. We aren't. We just take a more business like approach.

I have noticed a shift though. My male friends are starting to talk more and be more open and my female friends are starting to build action plans to tackle issues. We're blending our techniques and becoming more effective.

I actively avoid drama and gossip unless it directly impacts my day to day life. Like my mom always lets me know when one of her Facebook friends I’ve never heard of and she hasn’t spoken to in 20 years passed away. Sorry for your loss I guess? Or my wife constantly hits me with new celebrity drama and that’s the thing I care the least about. I sit quietly and listen though

I'm a woman and this dude is 100% how I am. If you don't volunteer info to me about your personal life, I'm not dragging it out of you. I don't care how friendly we are. It's not my business and if you want me to know something, you'll tell me. I was just raised not to butt into other people's business and so now I'm extremely uncomfortable asking people personal questions.
