"If he wanted me to know, he would have told me" ~ *EXACTLY*

Most unrelistiv part is that he called to tell him and it wasn't some side information

I think what some women don't understand is when stuff like this happens to guys especially when its still fresh the last thing we want to do is talk about it in detail because most of the time we're still trying to process/come to terms with what happened which is a whole internal struggle itself. Asking and answering prying questions is just aggravating and annoying.

Guy friends understand this. When a friend of mine engagement was called off, I called him and we hung out playing video games, watched movies, drank a bit, and talked about which characters could beat who in a fight until like midnight.

My gf at the time demanded details the next day and I just shrugged and said we didn’t talk about that, we just hung out. She was baffled.

That afternoon my friend sent me a text saying: "That was fun. Thanks for just letting me be."

A week or so later he gave me the details because he knew I wouldn't pry or force him to talk before he was ready.

"I am unaware"
I gotta use that when I get a girlfriend

The worst thing is when my wife asks how my friend and his family are doing when I get off an hour long phone call with a friend. It's like "how the hell would I know"

Guys are not bad at gossip, just better at respecting boundaries.

"I didn't ask, it's none of my business" exactly right, it's kinda where these conversations should end but they can't help themselves haha.

This literally happen to me and my best friend in both ways. My girlfriend break up a 8 years relationship with me, and when i talked to my friend about it was just a "It sucks man, hang in there". A couple years later his wife also left him and i did the same. But the funny thing is, althoug there were no longer and emotional talks about how we fell about it. I knew i was not alone and i could count on him, and he knew the same about me. To be fair, being able to spend more time with my friends and just hang out without that looks of "Poor boy, he must be suffering so much" was exactly what i need to heal properly.

I learned how to cut that short. I picked up the phone, called him back and said, "Hey, Karen wants to speak to you." Handed her the phone. She immediately hung up and now I was in more trouble than before. But she didn't try that gossip thing on me again.

The fact that the entire convo was about something completely unrelated is the most realistic part. My friend once told me about something messed up that happened to him in his childhood. I told him I'm sorry that happened and, once he knew I was there for him if he needed it, we spend the rest of the two hour conversation talking about anime, video games and D&D.

"I'll manage"
"alright."

When Mikayla asked “what did you guys talk about for an hour?” I legit out loud said, probably fantasy football 😂

The unrealistic part is that a man would call their friend to tell about a breakup. The breakup would come up in some casual conversation in 6-12 months.
