The TOUGHEST decision in the smartphone space?

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra vs the OnePlus 12 is a battle I didn't expect at the start of the year. However, both companies' flagship candybar phones are beasts. Is picking between the two the toughest decision in the smartphone space right now?

When he said flipping back and forth between the same 3 social media apps for 3hrs straight that was an eye opener. For about 90% or more of the average cellphone users a midrange phone that came out 2yrs ago would work just fine for those 3 apps checking your bank account paying bills online and watching YouTube.

Didn't even mention the anti-reflective display of S24U😕

The ONLY thing holding me back from choosing the OnePlus is the curved screen. Granted, for a $500 difference, I might be able to overlook it

Mehh the one plus is the better device. Samsung has gone soft AF with charging speeds. Its pretty pathetic tbh

I have the S24 Ultra and I had the OnePlus 12 for a few weeks. I loved almost everything about the OnePlus 12, but I returned it because of one software decision that I just could not live with. In an effort to emulate iOS as much as possible, OnePlus has the lockscreen notifications disappear after you have unlocked your phone. iOS does this to an extent, but it just hides them below, so you can swipe up on the lock screen and access them. This isn't the case in OxygenOS. They're just gone from the lockscreen. Forever. I interact with a lot of notifications from my lockscreen, so this was a deal breaker for me. I'm really not sure why they did this and I didn't feel like waiting around to see if a software update would fix it. The worst part is, the lockscreen notifications would just kind of get dismissed while the phone was in my pocket and I was listening to music, as if I had unlocked the phone, which wasn't the case. It was infuriating.

The hardware was great and my only compliant was the curved screen, which I could have definitely lived with.

I have the OP 12 and I think we're at the point where all the "downsides" are just nitpicks, both cameras are awesome (oh no the S24 has better shots at 30x zoom which I'll never use), both displays are great, both speakers are great (I mean come on it's a smartphone what do you expect), fingerprint reader is excellent (trust me you won't feel the need for an ultrasonic reader, the optical one on the OnePlus is VERY fast). He also forgot to mention a MAJOR feature on the oneplus has which is the infra-red antenna which you can use to control your AC or TV or w/e uses a remote, I use this every day I can't have a phone without this anymore. Also some worthy mentions are the icon pull-down gesture in the OnePlus launcher (this is a genius feature for big screens), smart notification hiding based on your face data. Software support is enough, after 4 years of major updates (5 of security) you will most likely change the phone anyway. And the fact that a $1300 phone doesn't include a charging brick in the box is just mind-blowing.

I just switched from a S22 Ultra and the OnePlus 12 is phenomenal, I was super nervous about switching from One UI to oxygen OS but I really love it, even more than my Samsung and the features and specs alone blows the galaxy out of the water, the charging speed is the way a phone in 2024 should be, plus best battery life and arguably the best camera I've ever used. If you are on the fence and you don't mind the curved display make the switch and get the OnePlus 12 it's a big upgrade IMO.

The oneplus will receive 4 years of OS updates, the Samsung gets 7 years. That is no contest
In Australia both are the same cost

I feel like a better comparison would have been with the Galaxy S24+ especially where price is concerned

i love the S24 Ultra, for it's the measuring stick for all android phones but the OnePlus 100W and 5400 mAh are so appealing, that alone makes it the superior the phone, it's hard to choose honestly

I'm very happy with the OnePlus 12. But, we have to mention issues with the software, especially the ~2 sec lag when switching between apps

As someone who loves to write, the s pen is one of the features I enjoy the most. The smoothness it writes with even makes me relax so I'd be pulling out that pen every now and then

The OP12 was the clear winner for me. Trading in my old phone brought the price down to around $300 and it's been the best phone I've ever used. The Hasselblad tuning has delivered some incredible looking photos with zero need for a pro mode. Having the fast charger included and a screen protector preinstalled were bonuses that made it a no-brainer.

I think the s24u camera was way more crispy than the OnePlus but I'm glad to see that OnePlus has come a long way since I last had the OnePlus 6t

Had the OP12 for two months and switched to the S24 Ultra, basically because of the warranty and accessories availability outside the US and China, it's much easier to find repairs, accessories and gadgets for Samsung.
