He just sits there calmly identifying problems while we are pulling our hair out identifying the noise :)))

Excellent video. There's so many videos elsewhere with music playing so you can't hear the fault noise let alone the mechanic. This guy explains things simply and clearly and gives a much better indication of how to diagnose the fault.

The way he calmly explains this is just superb. My car has been giving this sound for a while to the extent that now it has started loosening inner CV joints bolts. It's 3 am I can't wait to get up and sort it out. Thanks

Thanks for the video. I found my stabilizer link was bad. Picked one up at auto parts store and replaced. Fixed my problem. I canceled my appointment with a repair shop.

This video is very good. This guy explains everything very well, and covers all possible scenarios, and pictures while he is speaking. A very well put together video.

I have watched a bunch of videos and this one was excellent. Thanks for mentioning the possibility of the bearings on the shocks and the whole idea of parts that move up and down versus those that move diagonally or side to side.

This advice is always welcome and useful. I've paid 200 bucks just for the diagnosis and I've been asked to pay well over 2000 USD for this clunking noise to be fixed. As I'm not coining money and I'm far from stupid, I didn't pay them and not gonna pay them a single dime.

I've had this irritating clunking noise coming from the front end of my suspension, for almost 3 weeks now and I think it might be my inner tie rod and also struts. Thanks for making this video good insight for sure.

Thanks for all the info mate. I literally had the same issue on my car on both sides. Was told I had to change the suspension but I was able to fix it after watching you video. Thank you!

Superb advice. After being conned 2K by the reputable workshop for changing the “bad parts” and did not solved the clunking noise, I finally had a good mechanic fixed the steering bush for just over a hundred bucks to solve the clunking problem!

This is a clear and concise diagnostic video. I have a 2010 Audi A3 that had an incredibly irritating rattle that was getting louder. I tried to diagnose the problem several times. I could only re-create the noise if I pushed the car side to side very hard with the wheels straight. I visually inspected everything multiple times and grabbed the tie rod for the sway bar and tried to shake it but couldn’t find the problem. Because of this video I took the wheel off another time and checked all the nuts on the shock absorber to discover that the rattle was the upper tie rod nut being loose (even though it didn’t look or feel like it was). Thank you!

Thank you for this video, I went to loads of mechanics who quoted me at least a thousand pounds every time to fix it, got told it was my whole suspension, so went to scrap yard, got quoted 250 pounds for the passenger whole suspension, so I sent a male friend to go and ask for it a week later they charged him 80 pounds for it! Hate to say it but I think it was to do with the fact I had chesticles! Anyway I’m now replacing my whole suspension leg myself!

I always replace my droplinks first as only £25. Loads speed bumps in my area. Replace them bi annualty. Cured every time. Doesn’t make any noise on bounce test. Thanks for this very educational and well presented. Sometimes the droplinks seem ok until u take them off when very worn. Had a spring break too but had to pay for that to be done as dont have and don’t like compressing springs!, ,

Many thanks for your video Gerard. I had to take my honda pilot to the dealer due to not being able to find the source of a rattle noise from the passenger side front. Dealer wanted to charge me $2100 to replace the sway bar links & bushings and compliance bushings. I took it home and replaced the sway bar links & bushings myself for about $120, but the sound was still there. Came across your video and the idea of pushing on the corner of the car to recreate the sound was the key. Wish I had thought about this myself. I was able to find the noise coming from a loose nut on the top strut mount that was causing the washer below it to rattle. Tightened it up and sound is gone. Not sure what the dealership did to diagnose the problem, but they weren't very thorough.

Great video !!, for me it was the sway bar bushings and the sway bar links. The rubber covers on the links had tore. And the rubber bushing had wore down on the right side causing movement creating that clunking sound....no more noise, it cost around 350.00 to replace links and one set of two bushings for sway bar. Start there before you start replacing shocks and suspension parts...word to the wise. I hope this comment helps because mechanics want to sell struts and major suspension parts. Find someone who is honest and have a talk with them.
