I get companies are overloaded with applications... but is this seriously the best way they could find to filter people out. Prompt someone with a question, give them 2 minutes to prepare and then leave them talking for 2 mins into a black void with no idea how their doing. Not even giving a chance to try again in most cases. This is a needlessly stressful thing to force applicants into, we're not numbers, or drones that're being constantly popped out of institutions, we're People!. The least you can do is talk with us about the role your offering, rather than subject us to this.

This type of interview is uncomfortable and dehumanizing. My anxiety being triggered by video recording shouldn't disqualify me for face to face jobs.

If you want to get through this a video snort a line every time she says something “is a must”

Should I wear my Patek Philippe or just rough it and go with the Rolex when I do one of these interviews for a minimum wage job. I've done two of these interviews - I won't be doing a 3rd. I'll also won't be shopping with any company that uses this style of recruitment and I will be encouraging others to do the same.

I wouldn’t have as much issue I with this, if it wasn’t for the fact you can’t retry your submission. Talking to a void is just awkward and uncomfortable.

I'm just doing a video like this and I hate every second of it. I don't have enough time to answer the question, I don't know what is the point. AND I'm positive this is no guarantee I'll be good at the job if I get it, quite the opposite!

Does this kind of interview means the employer is interested in you? Or is it usually a general screening process that goes to every applicant?

Good thing I'm rich and live in a mansion and my only two options aren't my bedroom desk and kitchen table lol PSYCH

With applying for jobs with one way interview can't they use those recording to make deep fakes to use your likeness to scam other people? what is the solution if this scenario incurs?

I feel like I'm being iudge before I can even come in. I'm a black chick and now these people know I'm black and can "weed" me out before I even give a chance. Most jobs dont even know I'm black because of my name...though I cant count how many times I've walked into an interview to see a somewhat surprised expression on the mangers face. I wonder how people think I look based on my name alone 🤔

These are pure common sense things. There's a market for this?

Just decline. Video interviews are dehumanizing. I won't interview for "free." I should get to hear/see the interviewer and have a conversation with them.

I had a one way interview for a job that supposedly involved a high degree of communication with members of the public. The Irony.

Did I get the job, no. I terminated the interview the moment the interviewer, suited and booted, walked into a bathroom while holding his camera up as if he were taking a selfie.... knowing perfectly well he was about to take a piss the moment he finished asking the question. I explained I deserve more respect than that and if this is what they call formal then I'm no longer interested.

This method of "interviewing" is dehumanising and to be honest, pathetic.

This method of "interviewing" is dehumanizing and disrespectful. Use robots to make "good eye contact with the camera", don't humiliate people!

I like it. All I have to do is prepare in advance and then talk into the camera. I don't have to spend my money, gas, time travelling to the site for something that may not even materialize. Easier for me, easier for them.

She gave great advice, but the irony is that I find her background very distracting, with all the people and clutter and decor behind her. I think a less distracting background is preferable.
