I have a Muslim friend and she doesn’t wear a hijab either, and it’s supposed to be up to you if you want to wear it anyways and shouldn’t be forced (at least that’s what I’ve heard)

Wearing the hijab is an obligation imposed by Allah Azza Wa Jalla. The Quran says:

"O you who have believed, enter into Islam completely and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy." (Quran 2:208)

This is a clear command to fully embrace Islam and obey all its obligations as much as you can, not selectively follow what aligns with your personal desires. The obligation of hijab is explicitly mentioned:

"And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests..." (Quran 24:31)

Claiming to be a good Muslim while rejecting an obligation like hijab contradicts this. Worse, publicly promoting such behavior as acceptable misleads others. The Prophet Shallallahu 'Alaihi wa Sallam said:

"Whoever calls to misguidance will bear the burden of those who follow him, without it decreasing their burden in the slightest." (Sahih Muslim)

Sister, fear Allah! By encouraging disobedience, you risk not only your accountability but also the sins of those influenced by you. Allahu Mustaan.

You’re right. It is absolutely your choice to wear it or not wear it. It’s your choice to obey or not obey Allah’s mandatory command for hijab (khimar) which is present in both the Quran and the sunnah. And if you choose not to then it is also your choice to arrogantly make a YouTube video making fun of Gods command and how you are not obeying God while beating your chest to jungle music instead of being humble about it, and at least accepting in your heart that what you are doing is the wrong thing.

Covering the body is more important than hair. Qura says to cover bosom and private parts more strictly.

Exactly, even in one religion people can believe in different things.Some believe hijab is mandatory, some believe niqab is mandatory and some believe that neither is/it is optional.

If your not a kid and your muslim wonen you HAVE to wear the hijab but you can choose to wear it or not but if you dont were it your not completing a very important part of Islam but it is totally up to you

covering your body and chest is the real importance, hair is just hair, men have hair too, it's not that serious.. but I do respect the women who wear hijab and I wear it sometimes too.
