So apparently your monitor can look bad, but your PC be baller, and monitors are really expensive. I decided to take the plunge and get one to of the top, 4K, 240Hz OLED monitors (specifically the Asus PG32UCDM), to see if it really is worth it, OR is FOMO taking over. OLEDs do have significant advantages like Insane Contrast, Great Color Range, HDR Capabilities, Response Times, and all the advantages that come with being 4K and 240Hz. So is this $1,300 OLED Monitor Worth It? Or Possibly just a Scam?

I wish I was rich enough to buy things to see if it's a scam.

One thing with the image that people dont seem to notice is the absolute uniforminity of the image, every single edge of the screen just displays content without any bleeding backlights, no contrast shifts.

It's not really something you think much about until you see it live.

I personally am spoiled by just how great the 100% screen image quality is.

As for HDR, due to the contrast i think it looks significantly better than mini led. The only thing i liked about mini led was its peak sdr brightness, but bleeding that brightness into HDR(RTX and auto) kind of ruins the effect. ABL on the other hand can be a bother in some instances, but those were rare for me. Shit just blows me away, when the HDR really kicks in. Sime scenes in elden ring, the scenes with proper black levels, or the intro stage in gears 5 when your wakking through a pitch black cave and the brightness of your armors "hey im a friendly" just pop in ways they just cant in sdr.

Every time I'm about to hit the purchase button on this monitor, I remember, "Oh yeah. My computer is 20 years old. I don't need to see my graphics card struggling in vivid clarity."

130 bucks isn't worth open box, I think. Should be, at minimum, 350.

I went from an ips to an oled, and i have to say. Seeing as ill have my OLED monitor for several years, it is so incredibly worth the price

MSI is going for 900-950
Alienware goes for 999(sometimes)
Msi also sells one for 4k165hz for 800 rn
(this is US pricing)
Same panel for all of these as the Asus, don't scam yourself
Also the MSI 27' 1440p360hz are 800 as well

Your ips monitor, old one, has absolutely zero ips bleed/glow. It is insane. Mine lg 27gl850 is full on the edges.

Mate, my LG C1 4K 120 has been a bloody game-changer! I got it for £700 on Black Friday a couple of years back, and it's been an absolute steal.

The 3 big cons of OLED:

1. Expensive.
2. Burn-in risk.
3. Dimmer full screen brightness, might not look as nice as LCD in day time scenes depending on preference.

Outside of the above, OLED is literally better in everything else.

The problem with HDR is that the _games_ often don't implement it well - in fact sometimes games implement it really poorly. YouTube channels like GamingTech do a lot of game testing and can tell you which games are worth playing in HDR and which can be skipped - and which will look good if you use the settings they found.

got my 1440p 240hz IPS for 280$ (koorui 27e3qk from amazon) a couple months ago, i aint complaining, cant go wrong with IPS at that price, OLED is such a big price jump, LCD is still best value by far.

One aspect often overlooked in the LCD vs. OLED debate is the parallax effect that occurs near the edges of an LCD panel due to its polarization layer. While this issue is mainly noticeable on larger (32"+) flat panels, it can become quite irritating, especially if you use software with very thin or narrow scroll bars. OLEDs don't have this issue at all, next to the pure blacks and insane pixel response times, it's something that instantly stood out to me.

i play on a 65" Samsung QN90A very close to OLED, brighter, and peace of mind that ten years from now there will still be no burn in on my expensive display. I can live with the little blooming I get from time to time.

I guess, right now your best bet for a money is Direct LED, Mini-LED IPS with local dimming and HDR.
