This is a pretty low end build for the price. If you know how to look, you can get higher end parts brand new from trusted sites. I've laid out a build with a 13600kf, Arc B580, 32gb of ram, and a fast 1tb m.2 for under $600 before taxes. A used 1080 off ebay goes for around $100, so swapping the B580 with that will save you $150. You can probably find a used 2080 for around $150 to have a great build at the $500 price point.

I ran Fortnite on a i7-6700 and a AMD FirePro V4900, 8GB of 2133MHz DDR4 RAM, 60+ FPS 1080p, Performance mode low settings, 100% 3D resolution and I ran it on intel integrated graphics HD 530 at 1024p(my old monitors resolution), low settings performance mode and 70% 3D resolution at 60 FPS locked and with both of those setups, I had fun, but now with a Ryzen 3 3300x and a GTX 980 Ti, I can push max settings 1080p(nanite off), it’s just not the same anymore, trying to get the best FPS out of my office computer(HP EliteDesk 800 G2) even if it was just a single frame

If your current budget is 500$, I would consider building a pc on a cpu with integrated graphics with a potential to buy budget or used gpu and maybe some extra RAM later. For instance, Ryzen 5 8600g would run fortnight on igpu just fine and it costs around 200$. This PC would have modern socket and DDR5 memory, allowing future upgrades

R5 5500, A520 mobo, 2x8GB RAM, 1TB pcie gen 3 nvme, RX6600, 550W bronze psu from corsair or something. All brand new, about 500 usd. You can go dumpster diving for a case.
If you are a casual player and never want to upgrade, use 5500GT, remove the gpu and use 500w white rated psu. 300 usd.

i used a r5 5500 and and rx 580 for my kid and with VSR he plays fortnite at 120 fps in 1440p.
