I work in Poland and I pay flat 8.5% income and all the insurance and retirement stuff 5.5% in total I pay 13% on total $60, 500 per year.

Are you counting as a foreigner? Insurances are given by the employer already. And if you're European, it's the same as you were a polish citizen.

It’s not even close to the reality. Income tax ranges between 2% - 32%, with average around 12%. Social security, etc. add another 10-18%. I think avenge is around 30% in total but many people pay not more then 15%…
