Power line redfish in west Lake Pontchartrain are one of the most overlooked and underrated fishing opportunities in Louisiana. Specifically, the powerlines that stretch across the lake can make for easy, drag-peeling fun during the summer!

But when should you fish the power lines in Lake Pontchartrain? Why do so many people not fish it? What’s the best tackle to use and where can you launch from?

These questions and more are addressed in this guide. If you watch the entire guide, then you’ll have inshore fishing knowledge that most do not have and will be set up for success to experience this great summertime fishing spot.

We’ll begin with the exact location of these powerlines:

West Lake Pontchartrain Power Line Redfish Coordinates
Also known as transmission towers, you will find these starting at 30° 2'35.43"N 90°14'1.84"W, as they run west toward LaPlace before turning north at 30° 4'56.58"N 90°24'8.56"W and running toward Pass Manchac.

I have found that any of these stretches can be productive for redfish, blue catfish and black drum, but my favorite is the row of transmission towers running from north to south.

Awesome video and solid information. I’ve been fishing the transmission lines out of peavine since I was a kid! Definitely an overlooked area. I made a fishing video with my kids earlier this summer from that area using those same tactics. Just subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing more content! Keep up the good work man 👍

I cut my teeth on catching fine black drum at those PowerLines and still fish them, especially this time of year-have NOT used Side-Scan to "cheat" prefer to start at Piling #54(anyone ole enough to remember, Car 54 where are You)??? Nice video, easy fishing out there and another frequent You-Tuber outed those pilings about a year ago and I kidded him bout sending folks to one of my favorite local fishing holes-rarely, if ever, see many boaters out there and I live on NShore and when the Lake gets not only calm enough but clean enough, gotta lotta reds out there and typically one can catch a limit at possibly ONE set of pilings.Years ago, texted my wife after a child's play of nabbing quick limit of reds, caught three at ONE set of pilings and red #6 was a deformed fella, missing his entire bottom jaw-might still have a pic of him AND he was quite healthy, possibly pinning his prey to bottom and gobbling em up!!
